Small Pet SelectOat Hay Pet Food, 10 Lb.

I was looking for a better hay for my bunnies because they weren’t eating their hay anymore. And I tried it today, and gave them some as soon as my package arrived. They ate it like they were hay starved (probably were lol since they are picky). They loved it. I love the quality of the hay. The hay looks nice and green and looks like it’s packed with love. I’m definitely buying more. And the hay isn’t small or like just hay “dust”, it’s pretty long and thick. I can’t really explain it. But I’d say try it. I have 4 picky bunnies and they liked it. So I’d give it a try.

It's hay alright. I feed it to my rabbit because I'm severely allergic to most hays but only moderately allergic to this one so recommended if you want to suffer for your pet like I do 👍

My bun LOVES this crunchy hay, especially the extra seed heads! He eats it like there's no tomorrow.Pros:- Smells and tastes crisp. I've used Oat Hay from Oxbow and The Vikings but this is definitely superior quality.- Plenty of seeds heads for crunch, flavor, and variety of taste.- Bang for your buck! It is the most affordable high quality hay for its size.- Promotes healthy hay intake.- Yields GOLDEN POOP!Cons:- Packaging could be more efficient and clean. Maybe use a slightly bigger box.

Now let me say this is my second box from them and the 1st one was amazing it smelled fresh, had good smaller pieces, not so thick and was so green and healthy, not to mention my rabbit loved it, which is why I bought a second box.I am extremely disheartened and disappointed at the quality of this second box. It is yellow and stale. There is no smell to it and all the nutrients for my bunny is gone. This was a complete waste of money and I would have better luck with the bag of oat hay from another company even though it is mostly thick pieces but at least it is green with nutrients. If I could give 0 stars right now I would. I am just so appalled to be honest.

Pros:-Fresh, good quality-The leaves are green, my picky senior rabbit really enjoys itCons:- The strands are too long. You'd have to cut it before trying to take out of the box, otherwise it'll be a huge mess- There are too many oat groats. Rabbits can eat them, but as a treat, so you'll have to separate the flowers to adjust their portion- The leaf to stem ratio isn't worth the price point. This oat hay is very long, you can get a strand that's >2ft long, and from that you'll have 1-2 leafs totaling about 1ft. If your rabbit eats the stem, then this point shouldn't be any concern to you but my rabbit eats leaves only. So technically, the half of the whole box is unusable, and since i separate the majority of oat groats, I end up throwing them away as well. I end up paying $35 for the box but have to throw away 2/3 of it which isn't a good value.To sum up, if your rabbit eats the stem and you are okay cutting the long strands and separating excess oat flowers (rabbits can have them, but in small quantities as a snack), this will be a great hay choice for you. It's fresh and a very good quality. If your rabbit eats only green leaves, then be aware you'll throw away a half to 2/3 of the whole box because of long stems (straw).If I could give a suggestion to SPS, maybe it'll be worth it to cut the oat hay earlier in a season. This way there will be less flowers, shorter stem and more leaves.

My rabbit has been a fan of Small Pet Select hay for years. I buy both Oat Hay and Timothy Hay from this company. I had to recently add oat hay to my rabbit's diet to help with his teeth. He tends to get dental points on his molars and his vet recommended oat hay as it is good for the teeth. I have to say, since adding it to his diet he had not had more dental issues! My rabbit loves his oat hay. I keep the box open in a corner of his room so he can free graze as desired and I also mix it together with Timothy hay in his hay container in his pen. Small Pet Select has been reliable with both the quality and the availability of their hay products. It is packed fresh and with care.

Very pretty oat hay that is green and packed full of groats. I have had issues with some of their other hay, but this was awesome. I have 2 Holland Lops and they go crazy for this. So much so, that if it were up to them this would be the only hay they would eat. I mix this with 1st cut Timothy, and sometimes meadow hay.The only issue I had with this, is some of the longer stalks were dried out a bit at the base, but not many.For those that are new to oat hay. This is probably best for rabbits. It is the crunchiest, wider/larger and longer stems. There will be a good bit of yellow stems in there that are "shiny". But that is normal for oat hay, and is the favorite part (other than the groats) for one of my bunnies.I have only had pet rabbits for a few months, so all of this hay stuff was a learning curve for me. And, when I first got oat hay - it was so different from all the other hays, I wondered if there was something wrong with it - or if it was bad quality. So, I did a lot of research, and asked people with rabbits questions. And, yep, the yellow long pieces are a normal part of this hay. And, my babies eat it up.

I try my luck ordering despite seeing reviews about being really brown, I usually order it direct from pet select but needed it sooner so i order from Amazon. Per select sometimes is brown but I have never seen a box like this with poor quality hay. I am not sure if it was at the warehouse too long, but i have noticed even from directly from per select but this was over the top.Additionally when i was subscribe to the amazon the price for 10lbs box went from $35 to $80! Per box I did not read my email on time and was unfortunately charged.However the hay has lots of the flower which my buns love. But will probably never order from amazon again.
