TANITA HC-312F Portable FitScan Breath Checker

I’ve always worried about my breath… past smoking and a kiddo that can sometimes be a little-too-honest had made me very self conscious. After trying it out multiple times during a day, it seems to work! Morning breath gave me a higher reading, and after brushing and drinking some water, I got a lower reading. I found out I had nothing to worry about and now feel more confident.

I have never been told I have bad breath but I am haliphobic (I worry that my breath is not fresh). I always wonder if my breath is fresh especially when my job requires me to be in close contact with people regularly. I am single and I have no way of truly knowing if my breath is fresh. When I asked friends, they always stated that my breath is good. I bought this device to check my breath privately. At first, I thought that it did not register very well. It generally rates me a 1-2 out of 5. Which means that my breath is okay but never a 0 (odorless). However, I test it on my daughter, who is a child and whose breath is generally scentless and it rates her from a 0-5. Sometimes with the higher ratings, I could not smell any odor on her breath at all or very mild scent. I also get a 3 to 5 rating and I freak out and brush right away. Even after brushing, it still rates me a 3. Then, coincidentally, I started using activated charcoal to brush as a teeth whitening therapy and switched my mouthwash to smartmouth dds. Now I am constantly getting a 0 rating for no odor. Could it be the flavored toothpaste and generic mouthwashes that increases odor in our breath? It seems so! So now I am happy to have the Tanita breath checker for those quick, private check ups. I bring it with me to work and when I'm going out. I removed a star because the product is too expensive. After testing 999 times you have to buy another one.

I ordered two devices and routinely receive different results on either device. Unfortunately, around the 500 usage mark, the accuracy has drastically declined with one device consistently giving a 0 result and the other 1. I even tested them by eating garlic and the devices returned 0 and 1 ratings. Both devices have always given different results when used at the same time.

It is working perfectly but you can not use it for more than 999 times. so it will expire in a short time.

I was a little Leary about this item . But after receiving it and trying it out , it worked fine . If I ever come across a person with bad breath , I will be giving them a Christmas present without no name attached so that they do not feel humiliated or offended . It is the best thing that I have ever seen . I found out that I do not have bad breath and that was a load off of my mind .

I think it works. It always shows 2 or 1 for meIf you drink alcohol it will always show 5Food 4/5I use it when i feel like im having a bad breath day.

So far it has been spot on with detecting my breath. I use my son as back up to make sure that this device is legit (poor child).

Had the previous model HC212: small discrete worked great. This model is large and clunky. Readings are essentially random: "Err" displayed often, with occasional 0, 3 and 5. The number goes UP after I brush teeth and rinse with Dioxybrite and Dioxyrinse. Wish I could still get the HC212. This model is not useful.
