This brand deserves its reputation as one of the best.This beautiful little set provides just about all you need to get started - sufficient colours, a palette/case and a little brush. Just add a pad of suitable paper, some water and a little inspiration, and you're off!I use this if I'm just creating little sketches at home, or when I go for walks with the intention of capturing a bit of the countryside.The colours are beautiful and there are enough to provide all you need to create beautiful paintings. They mix well too, allowing you to expand your palette with no problem.The brush is a little bit lacking - it works ok, but you'll very quickly want to augment that with some others.The palette part - i.e. the inside of the lid, is adequate to have enough colour for your painting, you may just have to wipe it down a couple of times during a painting when you're out and about if you need to mix some additional colours.The size of the kit is tiny - it easily fits in a coat pocket or bag.I have no complaints.

I have since bought additional half pans to add to the collection.WN Cotman watercolours are excellent for beginners. I hadn't touched watercolours for about 13 years and got this small travel set to dip my toes into watercolour again. Lots of fun, compact little case with a tiny travel brush. These are half-pan watercolours so each colour is about 1.9x1.6x1.1 cm.

With these 11 pans, almost any colour is possible through mixing. I ordered this set following a recommendation I saw on YouTube for art journalling. I could immediately see that this was a quality product, as soon as I unpacked it. It's very tactile and compact and comes with the cutest little brush with a metal handle, which doubles up as a cap to keep the brush bristles safe. Those reviewers who complained that it is very small, could perhaps refer to the name of the product "pocket box". It will indeed easily fit in your pocket, which makes it very transportable and ideal for travelling, hiking, etc. The colours are strong and vibrant containing a high level of pigments. I first tried using an inferior type of watercolour paint and I can really see the difference between that and this quality product. I bought it at a very affordable price (much cheaper than eBay!) If you run out of a certain colour, you can just replace the individual pans or try a new colour out of the 40 different shades available. I love, love, love this paint set. Now I just need some talent to start creating some masterpieces!
