Q: Can this be used with the Breeze cat litter box system? Congrats

Our Eco-Straw litter has not been tested in the Breeze system. From what I can tell of the litter used in that system it looks like they use pellets that wick away moisture so that it goes through them. Our Eco-Straw is extremely absorbent, up to 300% its weight in moisture. As such, it may not be the best option for your Breeze system.

Q: Can you throw the used litter in the toilet? I’m on a septic tank.

We do not recommend flushing this litter if you have a septic system. While it is safe for flushing in general, it is likely to settle in a septic tank and may cause problems to your system in the long term.

Q: Can this litter be dumped directly in my garden? Does it have herbicide or pesticides?

Oxbow’s network of hay growers follow practices of good land stewardship in order to ensure quality crops year after year. As such, Oxbow hay has minimal treatment of herbicides and pesticides throughout the growth cycle, with use being limited to preserving crop integrity. The withdrawal period for these applications is 30 days and most pesticides or herbicides have a 10-14 day waiting period before harvesting. These waiting periods are followed strictly by all Oxbow hay growers, ensuring the integrity and safety of all Oxbow hay crops. None of our partner growers use any herbicides in the family of picolinic acids (i.e. clopyralids, aminopyralid, picloram, triclopyr, and several others). These herbicides are known to have longer residual presence in the soils compared to other commonly used herbicides and the chemical is not broken down through the digestive process. Beyond the health implications, use of these chemicals would prevent our family farmers from practicing rotational farming and other appropriate land stewardship practices. Since you are wanting to use this in your garden, I would recommend trying it in a small area prior to spreading it throughout.

Q: Just wonder, does it have strong smell? I used wood pellet (aspen) litter before (kaytee/green pet), which both have some strong unpleasant smell. thx

We have used this litter a long time. I have never had a problem with the smell, only once when the kids forgot to clean out the litter box for about 8 days and the rabbit still used his litter box. I prefer not to be without this brand of litter.
