Not bent!
I bought this even though the reviews mentioned the case often arrived bent. No such problem. Pleasant sounds if you can’t afford the OP 1. Not disappointed! The sounds are imaginative enough but not many! It reminds me of a Mini Cooper engine in a Lamborghini shell. Worth a punt.

Magnificent thing but you will have QA issues
First off, I went through 3 of them to get a good one - don't let this dissuade you. You'll read about them bending which seems to be a manufacturing issue and one they won't be fixing. For me, it didn't cause any fault at all and for safety (and paranoia) I stuck some small rubber feet on the edges and importantly in the middle so when I'm pressing it it's not bending any more. It's a very solid structure but better to be safe as they're not cheap. All three of mine had this bend but the one I kept was least bent - don't worry though. The four dials at the top are magnetically in place and should be smooth to move around. One of mine wasn't and I've also read some pop out - that's because it was assembled with the magnet the wrong way around - easy to fix and you will be able to fix it yourself if you need to.So now you're thinking this is a piece of crap. It isn't. It's the most incredible thing TE make and is worth all the apprehension in finding the right one. Sound, functionality, flexibility, hidden depths, tricks all get a ten. Just watch some of Cuckoo's videos or Red Means Recording. If you're worried about getting into sequencing and want to dip your toe in then get an Arcade Pocket Operator but you will end up with one of these as well. A staggering bit of kit and I'll never be without it.

Very poor construction quality for premium price
I returned it as it was faulty, I should have read the other reviews which mention the same problems as I had.Let down by very poor construction quality, the chassis was slightly bent up at each end, the volume knob fell off, and many of the keys did not work properly, sometimes they failed to trigger and other times they would trigger multiple times when only pressed once. I thought it might be a firmware bug, so I updated it but the problem did not resolve, if anything it got worse. I only kept it for a few days but in that time it was treated very carefully as it is so small and flimsy feeling.A real shame because it has the potential to be a good product with some interesting features, it is way smaller than expected and very fiddly to use - even more so than a Pocket Operator, but Pocket Operator has better buttons, which never gave me any trouble. For the over £400 I paid I expect much better build quality, even if it was half that it would still not be worth the money, it is too small and flimsily built for practical use.

Pocket Operator on steroids.
A love it or hate it device. Once you get your head around the unique interface, based entirely on coloured led lights and your ability to mentally visualise it - this becomes a powerful tool. The design is unusual, expected from Teenage Engineering. The build quality for the price could be a lot better though, every time I pick it up I wish it was hewn from alloy like it’s big brother the OP-1. The sound quality is top notch though and friends are amazed such a sound is coming from that “funny remote control”.

Best Synth for this price tag I’ve ever seen!!!
This is simply the best synthesiser you will ever get for this kind of money. It is a small device but with a mind boggling amount of features and at a fraction of the price for an Apple Mac and Logic Pro X. It even has features the OP-1 doesn’t and with the app I can see what’s happening clearly. Would highly recommend this product

When something sounds too good to be true....
...it's normally because it is. This could have been a fantastic piece of kit but it's just not. Like many before me i really wanted the countless reviews regarding build quality to be the unlucky few. Moving from a pocket operator I pictured the opz to be the perfect upgrade. On arrival i immediately identified the infamous banana curve casing, but i was determined to look past the cosmetic deformity in the hope that the performance and function is everything i thought it would be. First thing after turning it on the equally infamous double triggers were already kicking in. Again push on to Moscow....An hour on the device i noticed the battery was dropping rapidly even without touching the device. Left to fully charge next day same thing only every 5 minutes the thing bricked and restarted itself. All the troubleshooting factory reset, take out battery for 30 seconds, upgrade firmware ECT....no luck. Literally everything people mentioned previously that could go wrong did. If you have money to burn buy this cheap toy, if your hoping to make a quality investment in your musical arsenal...this isn't it.

Arrived bent
Great machine, but be wary. Mine arrived very much bent out of shape. From my research this can lead to dodgy button presses and the turn controls falling out.

Don’t
Terrible quality. Amazon shouldn’t be selling it, to be honest. As per a lot of other one-star reviews here… Arrived with the casing warped, and the back plate (that holds the battery in) loose. But that was not the real problem. The real problem was that that battery didn’t work at all. After spending hours following all the online advice to get it working—and there’s a lot of that advice, because it happens to a lot of people—I gave up and returned it. These are all known faults, they happen to a large proportion of people; like many I read these reviews and thought “sure but what are the chances they happen to the unit I buy”… turns out that said chances are pretty high, actually. A great shame. The OP-Z workflow is ingenious (like a baby Octatrack), but that’s assuming the thing actually works. Have you heard of premium electronic products from other manufacturers that for many people simply don’t work when you take them out of the box? No, me neither.
