These reduce stepper motor noise
I installed these new driver chips to replace the A4988 that were used in my Geetech MeCreator 2. I could easily hear a reduction in the stepper sound. Now I have to find quieter fans for this printer. The installation of the TMC2208 was straight forward. They came set up at 1.0 Vrev so no adjustment was required. I did need to change the stepper motor polarity because of the new chip. I did this by changing the motor wiring. The other option was to reprogram the Marlin firmware. I deducted one star from the rating because of a total lack of instructions. I went to You Tube to learn how to install these chips but a printed overview with perhaps a description of the pinout and optional use modes would have been helpful.

Very Quiet and Smooth! Highly Recommend for Series 1 Type A
While diagnosing an issue with the extruder making clicking sounds and its inability to feed filament, we replaced the original RR motor drivers with this TMC2208 hoping the problem would be solved. Our problem turned out to be a bad X-axis cable which includes connections to the extruder. However, after replacing one of the old drivers with some testing, we realized how well and quiet the motors were operating. We are really happy that this TMC2208 driver works well with the Type A Series 1 3D printer nearly right out of the package with default settings that we ended up replacing both the X and Y axis with these new drivers. The result is an amazing quiet and smooth printer operation. Its almost like a whole different machine. All that is needed to use these drivers in the Series 1 is to replace the old RR drivers with these new drivers, adjust the pot so that driver output of X, Y, Z axis is 750mV, extruder to an output of 1V, and then reverse the plug to the driver on the Rumba board so that the blue wire is on the opposite side. Please refer to the picture Ive attached. Note that I only changed the X and Y axis drivers. Also the Y axis requires two motor drivers.

Works as advertised and brings a bit of refinement to an aging printer
The media could not be loaded. I purchased a pair of these for use on only the X and Y axis of a Flashforge Dreamer in hopes of improving print quality and reducing operating noise. I did not feel the need to upgrade the Z axis or extruder drivers as noise and step resolution were not an issue for them.In my particular case the pins on these boards needed to be removed and reversed to fit the pins on the Flashforge board. After reversing the pins and performing a quick check of the reference voltage (they both came already set a 1v), I was immediately able to start printing. Keep in mind that for several systems, the polarity of the stepper motors will need to be reversed as well (it was required in my case). The combination of these TMC2208 boards along with a quieter cooling fan has made the Flashforge significantly quieter overall. It's now possible to work and even listen to music and watch videos in the same room now! Overall, I am very happy with this purchase.

10 months still strong and silent
I bought two of these TMC2208 V1.1's for a RepRap printer using a Ramps 1.4 board in Dec 2018. They REALLY quieted down the motors. Seriously probably 70% of the motor noise is gone. But more than that they're accurate and I never had to adjust voltage or torque, they simply work perfectly. They were installed in a minute and firmware reconfiguration was fast and easy. Today I'm back to complete the printer set, buying two more sets of two. They're still still going, still quiet. They make control box my fan sound loud. If your control board uses these, definitely buy and don't look back. One customization I did- I used real thermal cement to make sure the heat sinks were well bonded. I recommend that on all permanent thermal connections. Keep it in the fridge when you're not using it and it will be good later.

Extremely quiet stepper drivers
The stepper drivers arrived fast and were packaged safely. After installing the drivers I was amazed at how much of a difference it made! My printer is almost silent now! The only noise I hear are my fans, which are the next upgrade. For my mother board ,GT2560 rev B, it was as simple as unplugging the old drivers and plugging in the new ones. I definitely recommend these stepper drivers and will be purchasing more for all my printers.

So quiet your fans will sound annoyingly loud
Near drop in silent replacement for A4988 drivers. If installing on a MKS Gen L board, note that you'll need to remove one of the jumpers on the board between the two two "towers" the stepper driver plugs into or everything will print the wrong size by half. If motors are noisy hot or skipping steps, make sure to CAREFULLY check the vref after unplugging the stepper motor from the board. Stepper drivers are super easy to fry.

:(
Maybe it was something on my printer, but as soon as these were hooked up, it shot the motherboard

Quiet and dependable.
The media could not be loaded. These work great. Using them on X and Y even my gigantic anycubic Chiron move silently compared to the noise from the cooling fans. Ive also noticed a good deal less noise in terms of rippling compared to other steppers.I'd recommend these to any maker who 3d prints any day.
