Minix Neo X8H Plus XBMC/Kodi Android TV Box, Mini-PC, Media Hub Quad A9/Octo Mali

There are allot of Droid sticks and boxes out and I have several, I normally get these with the expectation of flashing custom roms and all kinds of hackery fun, However this box did not require any of that which while not as fun for me lends itself to the average consumer much better than other choices. In the US we have a trend of getting off cable TV and moving to streaming and previously with other boxes and sticks it has been hit or miss with running all the services. This box I am happy to report plays most all of them flawlessly right out of the box.Netflix - perfectHulu - this one is notorious for not working on android boxes and sticks due to them (rather lame of them actually) only allowing certain recognized devices and or chip sets being allowed to play their content. Well it works perfectly on this box I am happy to report, lets hope Hulu doesn't break it in a future release.Crunchy Roll - OK so crunchy usually works on everything however again with the chipset and device encoding (this is a big deal as most droid sticks and boxes are generic and so not in some USA list of available devices) there are troubles with playing the "latest" episodes, as if they release a certain encoded version first and then go back and release a more backward compatible version? The end result is you cant watch that latest episode, it says your device is not supported for that version yet, I know damn well my droid stick can play it so this is very frustrating, Well this box plays them perfectly as well so another score for Minix!Amazon Instant Video - Nope! Amazon is doing the whole device/chipset thing and therefore getting Instant Video to work is hit or miss, I have about 15 droid devices, so far only working on 2. Understand its not because they cant play it, its because they aren't reporting back that they are "Samsung galaxy blah blah" so the app says no, you cant play it, falsely. I'm pretty annoyed with this Amazon as I am Prime member.Otherwise Crackle, etc works great, I haven't had any buffering issues, Plex is what I use for internal media streaming and not XBMC but Plex works perfectly. My internet is fast and hardwired to box using the Gigabit Ethernet port, a speed test from the box using Ookla showed 110/25mbps which is near my max- awesome!I don't have a 4k TV to test that but in 1080 its a very smooth and nice picture, also the Audio to HDMI and headphone jack works at the same time, this is a awesome bonus for me as I output to surround receiver for Movies and for music I output analog to my vintage audio gear, I was hoping that this box would play out of both at the same time so I didn't have to touch anything when switching from Movies to Music and am very happy it does this! The signal is nice and clean out of the headphone jack as well so no noise introduced to my amps.I don't play games on android so no report for how the graphics handle those sorry. I don't video chat either but will test a camera just to see and report back.I also have a favorite little RF kb/mouse device that I use with my droid sticks so i haven't even tried the included air mouse remote,All in all this is my best experience with a droid box so far, I have already recommended this one to friends.

Overall the unit was good but just not as polished as I'd like, at least on the user interface aspect. The 4K works good and definitely worth it if you really need the high performance for the 4K.For me there's just not enough content to justify keeping this. The Remote is HORRIBLE, it barely gets reception from 4ft away. After days of use with this I gave up, for the price I expected a bit more at least for the remote. If you do purchase this, make sure you get a different remote because the stock is a cheap, flimsy pos that can barely do basic functions. When it does manage work, it lags a ton. Make sure you have an android device ready to sub as your permanent remote.

Well, look no further, this product works flawlessly and is light years ahead of the competition.About meI'm an IT consultant with advanced knowledge of tech products and early adopter of new technologies, I've been using XBMC since it first started with Xbox and a variety of media players since the beginning.IntroI initially purchased the Matricom G-Box Q without much research since it has so many great reviews and it's the #1 seller on its category, only to find out how bad and buggy the product is, returned the next day I received the Matricom G-Box Q and ordered the Minix on the same day after doing some research.HardwareSeems excellent quality, I only had the product for a few days so I can't say for sure it's going to last but it looks and feels of great built and quality, everything worked out of the box.Remote ControlIt came with two remotes, one is very simple with only basic functions making it pretty much useless if you would like to use all of the box features. The 2nd one works great as it has rechargeable batteries and it also works as an air mouse perfectly which is great for some occasions. However, if you want to fully enjoy the box I highly recommend getting a remote with a keyboard such as the Rii i8 mini.SoftwareExcellent! It has a custom launcher interface from Minix that is just perfect, all the other products I used has a poor cookie cutter launcher that does not do the job at all, might as well leave the stock Android launcher on. I cannot stress enough how the Minix interface makes a huge difference on how you use and interact with the product, it's a completely different user experience, even for advanced users like myself.Problems ExperiencedNone so far, not a single crash or problems like I experienced with other products such as the highly rated Matricom G-Box Q.ConclusionIf you want the best, stay away from the rest, the Minix is just perfect!

Great unit, no air mouse.Please change the description.It's a great media player, but you don't get what is advertised.

Top of the range. You could spend a lifetime and you would not be able to access everything available .Awesome but in some ways frightening!

He sustituido un HTPC con esta maravilla y estoy encantado.Los tiempos de arranque son muchisimo mas rápido. Emite cero ruido y cero calor, el htpc era como tener una pequeña calefaccion puesta.La salida óptica de sonido 5.1 y la decodificacion del mismo es magnifica.De momento no he encontrado ninguna peli que no pueda reproducir.La wifi no la he probado pq ya tenia un punto ethernet de 1gb al lado y el cable siempre es mas rápido y estable.Es de los mejores gadgets que he comprado nunca.

The android box is great except for the European plug. There is no mention in the description.
