Identiv SCR3500C USB Smartfold Type C

Contrary to some reviews, this works fine on my iOS device. I’m glad I took the chance that it would. I’ve had similar SCR3500 in the USB A versions, do this saves me one less dongle in my pocket when I need access on the go. It hasn’t happened yet, but I expect to break one of the arm eventually like every previous one I’ve owned.

I love this card reader! it is small and easy to carry with you and gets the job done with ease!

I needed a CAC reader for home and this one is perfect. It is mobile, I keep it on my keychain and I am always prepared to login to my CAC enabled sites on the go when I have my laptop with me. Since it is so compact I can also keep it in my computer bag without taking up a lot of space. My only issue is that the unit does not snap together when in the folded form so it sometimes opens on its own, but so far it has not been damaged and also worked without any issues. I just downloaded the drivers from the website and it worked like a charm. Overall, great product so when I want a larger reader to keep at my desk. I will be back to purchase it.

This is superior to the one that sticks directly into a USB port exactly because it doesn't do that. It doesn't bump up against things if you're carrying your laptop and doesn't add 5 inches to the side of the laptop if space is limited. Being able to fold it out of the day is a big win. It's also not much larger than the regular one when carying it.

It just works! It is very compact and NO issues at all and that should be the selling point!

So, not only does this not work out of the box with Android, but the middleware software that makes it work is not available anywhere anymore. SubRosa is recommended everywhere but it is not available in the app store and all of their websites and stores are down. This is not easy to use. Not compatible with android as it stands and is a terrible value for the money if that is your intended use. Stay away if you're on android.

I needed this specifically because my Macbook has only USB C ports. This card reader does the job. Great for travel as it is very low profile and folds up nearly. This could be a con as this thing is small ( pictured aboove folded, with a Pentex Energel 0.7mm ballpoint pen). 3 months in, I didn’t close it down, and either sat on it or put something on top of it and one of the folding arms snapped. It still actually works and reads my card, but i gotta play around with it. So if you get this make sure to break it down after use so the arms don’t snap!

Excellent product that works as advertised. It worths the money.
