Written by two well-known experts in the field with input from a broad network of industry specialists, The ROV Manual, Second Edition provides a complete training and reference guide to the use of observation class ROVs for surveying, inspection, and research purposes. This new edition has been thoroughly revised and substantially expanded, with nine new chapters, increased coverage of mid-sized ROVs, and extensive information on subsystems and enabling technologies. Useful tips are included throughout to guide users in gaining the maximum benefit from ROV technology in deep water applications. Intended for marine and offshore engineers and technicians using ROVs, The ROV Manual, Second Edition is also suitable for use by ROV designers and project managers in client companies making use of ROV technology. A complete user guide to observation class ROV (remotely operated vehicle) technology and underwater deployment for industrial, commercial, scientific, and recreational tasks Substantially expanded, with nine new chapters and a new five-part structure separating information on the industry, the vehicle, payload sensors, and other aspects Packed with hard-won insights and advice to help you achieve mission results quickly and efficiently Review: No Color Print - Comprehensive but I felt cheated because the book came in black and white. Many of the pictures would be clearer to reader if it comes with color. Review: Five Stars - Great book to overview ROV technology

Comprehensive but often tedious introduction to a complex subject
I've just finished this book and it took a lot of effort to get through it. It's very comprehensive but doesn't fill the gap in the market for an introductory book to the ROV arena. It could do with a section on hydraulics in the same manner as the section on fibre optics. For someone already working in the field, it would certainly fill in a lot of possible knowledge gaps but a much more basic volume for the absolute rookie, assuming a certain level of technical knowledge, is certainly a distinct necessity and I don't think this book covers that. However, its contents are very well researched and put together and there are a lot of very useful tables, drawings and photographs that illustrate key ideas, facts and concepts. Certainly a good book for anyone already in or contemplating entry into the ROV field and well worth reading but it drops a star for not putting itself in the rookie's place enough.

Great book, in depth and informative!
Great book that covers all relevant subjects of this topic. Could be made a bit more capturing with more practical examples and pictures to keep the readers interest in the most theoretical parts, but other than that a great book on the subject.
