This gem is the "Swiss Army Knife" of digital timers... Does it all!

It arrived promptly ( three days). The overall design and construction is 10 star... total qualty! (I gave it 4 stars only because of the instructions which I will address at further down)I am a retired electrical engineer. With that said, I feel somewhat qualified to discuss this widget. Have had plenty of experience in process applications, programming microcontrollers, oddball sequence timers and most everything in between. THIS is a great widget and wished I would have had access to these during my working days.18 modes of operation: one shot monstable, cycling astable, timing parameters during on-off cycles totally adjustable down to 1/100th of a second. The relay can handle 10 amps@110 v (1000 watts+) although I am not sure I would push it that hard... I will buy a few more to replace some of my old time cobbled together analog timers I have soldered together for various uses around the shop and home.APPLICATION: A friend-associate says "I need advice on something " (Uh-Oh?) He has a remote cabin in Montana with an indoor composter toilet. For it to operate properly requires a fan and heater- 230 watts 110v combined. Thats swell until its time to leave... "I need something that will run the fan/heater for say a week then shut itself off"... What wouldn't be good is a timer activated on power up, so the timer runs the composter for a week before it shuts off in the event of periodic power outages.Well this will do it. Mode 10 or 12 , one shot, requires a manual start button. Once it cycles, thats it... until restarted by same button. It will run up to 9999 seconds which is something like 11 days. You need a timed oscillator? Then you need two of these in series... just remember this is a relay and not a solid state high freqency oscillator. (now we are into a seperate discussion).~~~~~~~~The only downside to this widget are the instructions which need a major clarification-overhaul. I read the instructions 56 times, looking for clues, and dorked around by trial and error until I got it. (And I usually comprehend this stuff quickly, hands on) I finally got it. To program this widget is well thought out and pretty simple. Figuring out how? Egads. I am afraid the "average guy" without an electronics background would quickly become frustrated and lost. It is a general overview, not step by step with pictures and arrows. There are a lot of omissions ,oversights and generalizations.IE:~Nowhere in the instructions did I find how to select programming modes above level 9. Trial and error until I got it.~Then I got it stuck in .01 second increments rather than 1 sec. Nor how I managed that... Finally figured that out.~There are 6 indicator LEDs on the board. 2 are self evident- Power applied and and relay status open or closed. The other four have to do with mode and set up, sometimes flashing and other times not. I am still sorting that out.~ Lastly.... The instructions refer to the 4 digit display as "The LED" ? which LED? It is a digit display, not an "LED"? in my head an LED is just that. Call it a Digital Display which is what it is "DD"."The LED does this or does that"??? You mean an LED or the display "LED"? I am about at the point of keeping my own detailed notes on set up.I won't want to get nitpicky here. . Its a great product! But having written tech instructions, I am afraid what is supplied could be confusing and frustrating to "avg Joe" that just wants it to work...With revised set up instructions, Id give it a soild 5. If you are reasonably tech savvy and somewhat patient, you can handle it. I am impressed enough with this I am going to buy extras. So recommended with considerations.~~~~~~~~~~~~ADDENDUM:This info not available in instructions.I'd recommend a regulated power supply of 200ma minimum $4.00 for 1A, regulated, here on Amazon.(for CCTV)If you are using batteries...Display OFF, (power saver mode): 2.6 ma idle, 36ma relay closed.Display ON. 8ma idle, 13ma running, 46ma relay closed.ADDENDUM #2: There isn't a way to "pause" a timing sequence and have it resume where it left off. A high level input restarts timing sequence from the beginning. Not that this is is a huge problem. I just haven't come up with a workaround... An "interrupt- resume" would be a useful feature in some modes. Maybe we'll see this in V3?

Just what i needed...

I am using it in my 2013 Subaru Crosstrek. I hate the trunk unlock. its a button you have to push at the trunk that gets your hands dirty and freezes up in the winter. I had auto start installed in the car, so i used the Trunk release wire to hook up to this device to then hold the truck lock open for 10 seconds. If i should decide to change the 10 seconds to something lower or higher no problem. Some people complained about the manual, i understood it, and picked the option that worked best for me.I only wish the unit would allow a negative pulse to trigger as well as a positive pulse. Because of that, i needed a basic relay to change the negative pulse from the remote start to a positive pulse to trigger this timer module. All in all, very happy.

Solid device

Works well, pretty easy to figure out. Instructions could be a little better, but they were more than I was expecting. There are a few you tube videos showing examples but only a few of the selectable modes are demonstrated, a few more videos would be nice. I'm buying a second one for the other half of my project.

If you would like a free re-written manual...

Product is outstanding. Product documentation is minimal. If you would like a re-written manual you may download it free from this DropBox link - https://www.dropbox.com/s/yu5jk3d41o6rlxe/Timer_Manual_2015_05_04.pdf?dl=0I have used mine in a home-made water treatment system to regulate the duty cycle of an ozone generator.

This was easy to program

I needed a way to switch an LED light strip on and off with a regular interval. This was easy to program, and does exactly what I want. It saved me a lot of trouble looking for other solutions.

All is good

Product originally came without a manual; however, this was quickly corrected so I am now very pleased with the timer. It will be used to cycle a slow well to come on for a few minutes every 2 hours.

solenoid faulty

solenoid clicks but does not close properly, also, i paid over 15usd for this, then found it from another supplier for 3.99usd....def not a reliable timer. 0 stars for reliability and cost.
