Great, made my mountain bike into a street bike
Bought one drop bar, sorry I did not buy more. Will buy 4 more for all my other bikes. Yes, they are a little wider, because mountain bike handlebars are wide. I actually might saw off and shorten the handlebar, as I don't do gonzo mountain biking, just dirt roads and very light trails. Right now I just pushed everything inwards to get a narrower feel, without sawing anything off. Works perfect, and I can still get a wider grip, albeit with the drop bar between my fingers. I grew up with road bikes, so I feel at home with this handlebar. It comes in handy especially on uphills, for better position and pull. And of course, on good roads, for speed. Unfortunately, I reflexively search for brakes at the end, where they would be on a road bike drop bar. Will get used to this soon ...

Excellent drop bar ends!
I love these things! Since I only have a mountain bike, these things make me feel like I have a mountain bike; AND road bike, without the price OR need of extra room! Since I could'nt find anything like them at my local bike shop, I decided to check Amazon, (since they seem to have everything under the sun) and the search returned these! When I got them (after installing them), I rode my bike down to the local bike shop and showed them to the owner. He told me that he had never seen anything like them before! He even showed them to an employee. He has since started looking on Amazon, himself! I get strange looks with them,(admit it, how many mountain bikes do you see with drop bars??) but i'm going to try to add brake levers, so I have brakes going down hills (which can be VERY steep where I live) I'll update my photos AND review when I get that taken care of. I ordered some brake levers for them, BRAKE LEVER ROAD ACTION ALLOY W/EXTENSION and i'm hoping they'll work for me. We'll see! Also, I already have, and will CONTINUE to recommend these to anyone with a mountain bike! UPDATE (12-19-2012): I got the BRAKE LEVER ROAD ACTION ALLOY W/EXTENSION but sadly, was unable to use them. I instead took my bike to my Local Bike Shop, and had them see if they could do anything. Turns out he was able to, (as seen in the pics I put up) as well as cover them with red cork bar tape! That gives them better grip, as they seem to be a tad slippery, otherwise. I still think they're awsome; just more so now!

Cheapest way to convert to drop bars
At another reviewers suggestion, I paired these with TEKTRO RL520 hood/levers and new cables to convert my hybrid to a pseudo gravel bike. I had to get new shifters as well since stock had flat bar levers integrated but all in was about $100 for everything I needed. Anyway, these are super easy to install and did the trick perfectly. While I've never actually ridden a real drop bar setup, these seem as ergonomic as I could hope for. I contemplated chopping the excess bar ends on my flat bars but I like the extra hand position option. I am docking a star for what appears to be a slightly off center bore on one of the bars. If you look closely in the POV pic, the right drop is toed In ever so slightly. Probably won't notice while actually riding, and this could also be a slight variance with the bend of the main bars but it annoys me when I look down while spinning on my trainer and it's slightly noticeable when I use the drops. Overall a great buy though.

Incredible!!
I was surprised how light they are! I put them on my flatbar hybrid and WOW, it's almost like a whole new bike! I had to do SOMETHING because my elbow gets really sore from the awkward bent-elbows-with-hands-on-a-flatbar position. It took a couple simple adjustments to get them set just right. I took my old grips off and slid my brakes/shifters in a couple inches. (Just because they're called "bar ends" doesn't mean they must go on the very ends!) I'll tell you this - You must put some type of grip on them, be it bar tape or foam grips. I bought the latter from my LBS (by Sunlite, only $10) - I am so comfortable on my bike now! Some have complained that they are too skinny and they're not!! (I have very long fingers.) They are made to be gripped in some way. Alone they are too slippery if you sweat at all. They are the exact same diameter as a US nickel. The little wiggle in the middle fits across my palm exactly. I have them mounted so the straight part at the end is parallel with the ground (sliiiightly pointed down even,) and it feels fantastic. I highly recommend them for any flatbar as long as you're willing to adjust them a couple times to get them just right. I love them and riding that bike will not be the same again! And for the price??? Wow.

All of the Benefits; None of the Drawbacks
Over the past season, I've converted my downhill Trek (useless in the flat Midwest) into a trail/city bike, and I regularly put 40+ miles on it per day. Unfortunately, I have some arm and back issues, so despite a good fit, I tend to have numbness and back pain issues when I stay in one position for too long. I experimented with a number of wacky handlebars, aero bars, and other ergonomic hacks, but I found each one lacking. Finally, I ditched the expensive and ineffective solutions and picked up a pair of drops and boxer bar ends. I'm almost embarrassed by how well these inexpensive and totally tweakable attachments have proven to be. The ergonomic drops are vastly more comfortable than I'd anticipated, and I set the boxer bar ends up as a kind of aero bar minus the arm rests—perfect for those placid straightaways. What's more, neither option forces me to give up on the raiser bar I rely on for sharp turns and rough terrain. With three distinct hand positions at my disposal, I can comfortably ride all day, without any of the symptoms that regularly ruined my day. Whether I'm bombing downhill or pushing through a climb, the options available to me now let me achieve my all-time best performance.

great idea. small on application
I bought these bars for my Giant Cypress DX hybrid bike. Even though I only gave them three stars, it wasnt because they didnt work. Its just that they could work so much better. They are very very small compared to what I thought they would be but the problem is, most all hybrid bikes have handlebars with a slight pull back to them which in turn tilts the bar ends to an inward position. This is very uncomfortable for my hands. I wish they would have compensated for this and made them with an outward angle of about 15 to 20 degrees. This would have kept them at a straight pull back angle. As it is right now, you have to rest your upper body weight on the very small tunnel between your palm just outside the muscle to the thumb. This means that comfort is very short lived. TO SUMMARIZE: they do allow for a different place to put your hands but they do not extend the comfort of a long ride do to the odd angle that anything other than a straight flat bar will put them in.

These are a breeze to install and easy to adjust
These are a breeze to install and easy to adjust. I installed these on my Giant Roam 2 (2017) to have some different hand positions since my hands would numb out after a while. The bike is a total hybrid so it can take on some after market mods like these. It's build is a bit sportier (more road like) than some other hybrids. I installed mine about 2 inches in from the ends of each side of the bar. That's not going to give you an aero road bike situation but it'll allow you to lean forward to climb or crank up a gear on flats. They definitely add a new riding position that feels more like my road bike. I'm currently playing around with the possibility of moving these inboard of the shifters and brakes for more of a road bike feel. They would be about the width of my shoulders in that position which seems pretty optimal on a true road bike. I really like these drop ends since you can play around with the install to meet your requirements. They are pretty comfortable in their out of box form but I wrapped them to match my bike. They take on the bar tape very well. Really cool!

Updated review - 3 years and counting. Love these ends
I've had these drop ends for over 3 years now and have installed them on at least 3 different bikes and a number of different handlebars. Currently, they are on my hybrid with a set of mountain bike ends and Ergon grips. With this setup, I have 4 different hand placements which is great for long rides - I gain the drop position without losing a more upright position when I'm in traffic. I'm a big guy with wide shoulders so I have the ends outside my grips. If you're not as wide as I am, try what others have recommended and put the drops inside the grips. I've used bar tape before; this install, I used foam grips. The foam feels great; however, I will eventually have to add some tape anyway to cover the tops of the drops. Some other notes - Obviously, the ends are sturdy enough to be switched several times. I did replace one of the bolts this last time because I stripped out the head. Other than that. no issues. The best bars for these ends are risers and flat bars. I did get them installed past the first cure on a butterfly bar (stretched them with a screwdriver, used lots of lube, and then squeezed them back together with pliers); if you're willing to put in the work and scratch u your butterfly bar, they will add another position. I did try installing these on 2 different sets of swept-back bars and on cruiser bars. The angle for hand placement just didn't work but might be OK on a set of bars with less sweep. Highly recommended.
