Sevylor Colorado 2-Person Inflatable Fishing Kayak Complete with Paddle & Rod Holders Adjustable Seats and Carry Handle; Kayak Can Fit Trolling Motor

The Colorado inflatable fishing kayak exceeded my wildest expectations. I had only used hard body kayaks prior to this boat, and didn't think that an inflatable would actually work just as good. It's extremely durable--I've landed this boat on a rocky beach, dragged it down a rough cement ramp, and hit a few underwater branches, all with no problems. The underside is SUPER strong. The material on top seems strong as well, though it has not been tested. It's very easy to set up. It takes about 10 minutes to get it into the water if you use an electric pump, which I do recommend that you do because you don't want to be exhausted from pumping before making your first paddle. It does take longer to deflate and pack--it's not hard, just requires time to dry out completely. It tracks well when paddling, though it is a bit slow. Also, wind can be a bit of a pain due to the profile of the kayak, making an anchor a MUST for fishing. I take one star off because after-purchase support is poor. Sevylor, as far as I understand, doesn't exist as an independent company anymore. At least in the U.S., you have to go to Coleman for any support inquiries. It's now been over a month since my purchase, and I STILL can't get a Bill of Sale and Manufacturer's Statement of Origin (MSO) in order to register my boat, a requirement if you want to use a trolling motor in most states. Overall, I highly recommend this boat if (1) you want a kayak but (2) you don't have the space for a rigid body kayak, and (3) if you want to be fishing on it. If you're not into fishing, there are probably cheaper alternatives out there without the bells and whistles. Edit: Coleman eventually helped me out and I got the boat registered to the satisfaction of my state government.

My son and I took the Colorado kayak out today for the first time. I got it for him so we could do some bass fishing. We had approx. 400 pounds in the kayak (two grown men, life preservers, etc.... no tackle as this was a test run to see how it performed). We embarked in about 6 inches of water without touching bottom. Once we figured out its characteristics we were able track it in a straight line with each of us rowing from opposite sides. Without hurrying, we crossed a 1/4 mile lake in about 10 minutes, we decided a motor would not be needed because the battery weight would probably bump up against the weight limit. It glides very nicely across the water rowing. Wind did make a difference in its tracking, I would not recommend setting out when it's very windy. We dealt with 10 mile an hour gusts with no real issue. It's very easy to paddle even though the sides are pretty high. We spent three hours on the water and only pulled in because we felt the effects of sunburn. Neither of us were tired even though we did a lot of paddling. There is plenty of space for preservers and tackle (especially if you don't have a battery box), plenty of webbed areas for holding smaller items. Very stable, not tippy at all. Seats offer good support but will need to be occasionally adjusted (once I found the right support, I only needed to adjust it once more in a couple of hours of paddling. My only concern was there was about a half cup of standing water on the deck when we pulled in, it may have been due to residual water from passing the oars over the bow, dripping into the interior. I read another review that said if the cells are not inflated enough it might leak.... I'm thinking the deck may have been under inflated. The amount of water on the deck was not noticeable while we were underway, we only found it when we pulled ashore. My shoulder hurts from patting myself on the back for making this purchase, I wish I would have done it 40 years ago.

I bought this for my son’s 17th birthday. He didn’t really ask for anything so I looked around quite a bit at various outdoor-themed items. He’s a Boy Scout who loves to camp and fish and an athlete who excels at football and basebal. I came across fishing kayaks and when I saw two-person ones, I thought that would be perfect. I read every top ten list and found three on every list. So, I went to price them. One was way too high and one was out of stock everywhere (during the pandemic - outdoor-related items have become hard to find) and this one had two left on Amazon. I didn’t even realize it was inflatable until I read the reviews. I purchased it and he was super excited! He couldn’t believe I found such a cool item that he and his friends could throw in the backseat with their poles and go. We took it with us in the RV on our family Amusement Park trip a few weeks ago. It was so easy to inflate (10 minutes from taking it out of the bag to putting it in the water). He even took his brother out in it and nobody was swimming when they returned! He took me out for some night fishing and it was pretty comfortable even with my son being 6’3”. I stayed dry and so did my stuff which I had in a dry sac clipped on to one of the rings. My son said this was the best gift (besides a car) I could have given him! Tip - I bought him a manual air pump that pumps both ways as well as one that hooks up to the cigarette lighter. He Kees them both along with the fishing rod holders, the fin, and the gauge in dry sack with the kayak bag.

I'm in my 3rd season using this kayak. I use it for fishing. So I'm often on the lake for 6 hours at a time. I found the inflatable rear seat too low. So I replaced it with a fold-able beach chair. This sits securely between the pontoons and sits about 2 inches higher than the original seat. Wind is an issue. Because of its high profile in the water, any wind over about 10 mph makes the kayak unmanageable. Last year I added a Sevylor trolling motor. This motor attaches to the right pontoon and works great for slow trolling. Because it is not mounted to anything rigid, keeping it vertical in the water requires some effort. In the 2nd year, the kayak began taking on water. The rubber bottom is quite durable. But with time the upper nylon sides begin to leak. I treated the nylon sections with Star Brite Waterproofing for nylon tents. This solved the problem. I'm guessing the kayak should be treated a couple of times a year. The baffles are quite durable but they can spring leaks along the seams. I've had to patch small leaks a couple of times. It is relatively easy to pull out the baffles, repair the leaks and put them back. I use PVC cement with a PVC patch. An air pump plugged into the 12 v. outlet on the car inflates all 3 baffles in less than 10 minutes. Overall this is a great portable kayak. I was looking for something I could transport to the mountains in my car without needing a special rack. Also something light enough that I could get it in the water alone. This kayak has met my needs nicely.

A little over a year after I had purchased this kayak (i.e. out of warranty) the left inner tube (bladder) would not hold pressure. The leak was a failure in the heat welded seam used to bond the two halves of the inner tube together. The tubes are marked Made in China!! Multiple attempts to fix the leak with different adhesives and flex seal tape etc. failed. Sevylor is a French Company acquired by Coleman USA. Despite a label in the kayak indicating it is fabricated by Coleman in Wichita, KS, Coleman does not sell replacement inner tubes in the USA. Instead, a Coleman rep directed to the website of a UK company - The Wetworks. A left inner tube cost $68.30 PLUS $66.88 international shipping and handling ($135.18 total). Not long after replacing the left inner tube, the right tube would not hold pressure. Another $69.74 for the tube PLUS $71.41 international shipping and handling ($141.15). And now? Guess what - the inner tube for the floor is leaking badly from a failure in part of the heat weld at the bow. Clearly, the manufacturing process in China for these inner tubes is grossly inadequate for the purpose intended. I should add that I have never over-inflated these tubes (1.5 psi max). I hope someone from Coleman (or the parent company Newell Brands) reads my review and fixes this problem so that others don't have to spend, essentially the cost of a new kayak, in repairs. I completed a Customer Satisfaction Survey, after contacting a Coleman rep., in which I re-stated the problem and my frustration. Of course, no follow up from Coleman. Other issues with this kayak are poor design features. Only two very small people would fit comfortably, so consider this a one-man fishing kayak. The seat(s) do not provide adequate back support for hours of fishing. I had to fabricate a wooden backrest to put behind the seat. The paddle holders mounted on the tubes are pointless and in just the right place to snag your stroke as you paddle. Lastly, a conventional 8 ft. paddle isn't long enough to span the width of this kayak - you will get soaked, even with drip rings. I ended up buying a paddle, plus 2 ft. extension tube, from Crooked Creek Paddle Company (10 ft. total). I've lost many days fishing waiting for replacement tubes to arrive from the UK. My advice is to not buy this kayak and spend your money on a quality inflatable made by another company. I will not be buying ANY Coleman products in the future!

I've owned my Sevylor Colorado Kayak for more than 2 years now with multiple uses under my belt, allowing a balanced, subjective review of what's good, what's bad and what's ugly. Overall, this a good fit for a buyer looking for a durable easy to use and put away kayak. Although well constructed & made with tear/puncture resistant materials, I would not recommend this kayak for waterways where sharp rocks, sea shells/barnacles could rip/tear/compromise the underbelly or sides. While rated as a 2 person unit it is not the most comfortable in that configuration, therefore I recommend 2 person travel for short trips or 1 adult, 1 child. For my purpose, mainly fishing/sightseeing lakes, it's sit down stable, easy to maneuver & tracks well. The Good: 1. Easy to inflate/deflate (2 main pontoons, 1 floor chamber) Helpful hint: buy a 12v air compressor that connects to your car battery for quick inflation, complete set up time <15 minutes 2. Durable, reinforced Boston Air Valves & Drain Plug 3. Rugged & thick PVC under belly, durable/reinforced stitched fabric skin elsewhere 4. Lot of storage pockets, latch points, paddle holders 5. Simple to dry, clean, fold up & store (dry weight about 40 lbs) 6. Comes with a manometer (air pressure gauge) - helps check to see if you've inflated the chambers to the recommended PSI rating The Bad: 1. Seating - the included inflatable/detachable seats offer little back support, being that you a sit low inside the unit it becomes uncomfortable after a short period of paddle time. To overcome this, I've modified a milk crate as a base, attached a molded plastic high back boat seat that works much better. The Ugly: 1. Rod Holders: As mentioned by other reviewers, the position of the rod holders is poor. There are 4 hard plastic stems sticking up about 2 inches off the top of the main pontoons, positioned in the most annoying spot while trying to paddle. Either your hand smacks or your paddle clips them, either way its poor design execution. To solve this problem, carefully cut them off to the base with a hacksaw blade, smooth off with a file (don't remove any stitching). You'll forego the rod-holder capability but in return you'll not endure the frustration of hitting these little terrors. Conclusion: I've rated this unit 3/5, for the price it is not a poor choice by any means. If Sevylor/Coleman could improve the seats & do something about the rod holders, a rating of 4+ might not be out of the question.

Pretty sweet boat. Very well constructed.

Pros: + Super Portable: easy to inflate/deflate, fits in trunk, easy to carry like a backpack using included bag. + Very Roomy: Easily and comfortably fits me (6'1" 200lbs.) and two of my kids (8yrs. and 9yrs. old). + Clips & Pockets: So many places to clip storage bags, pump, whistle, etc... Seatback pockets are great for snacks and drinks. + Stability: Even with my two kids and a pretty strong current I never felt like we were going to come anywhere near tipping. + High & Dry: The floor and sides are rigid and high so you stay nice and dry :). + Lightweight: Easy to carry alone using the middle handles (see pic), or in front and back using the handles on each end. Cons: - Tracking: could be better, though the trakcing fin does help (remember to attach it BEFORE you inflate the kayak). - Documentation and Instructions: were extremely generic, and for the most part less than helpful. Learned Lessons and Suggestions: (o) Remember to attach the tracking fin BEFORE you inflate the kayak (o) Get a good pump, preferably with a PSI guage - A PSI guage is included, but a air pump is not. I use a Ryobi portable compressor that does high volume on one side, and high pressure on the other, and uses the same rechargable battery as my drill/tools. (o) Get the longest oars you can find, 96" at least, this thing is wide and tall (o) Remember to let it dry completely before storing long term, I always open it up when I get home and let it sit out in the sun for a few hours before packing it back up between trips.

So glad we purchased this. This was an amazing find. This is one hell of a good quality product. We dont use it for fishing, just a paddle up/down the river when we are on holidays. Either use a manual foot pump, or a fitted compressor to pump it up. Do not use a handheld portable inflator, it doesn't work, we tried. Luckily we have a fitted compressor in our 4WD to pump up tyres, so we used this to pump up our canoe. When we first got it, we pumped it up inside the house with a manual foot pump, this also worked fine. Overall top product.

My husband and I love our new inflatable fishing kayak. It is just perfect, easy to inflate, very sturdy, enough room for storage, and enough room for your feet ( my husband is 6’ and weighs 230 pounds, and I’m 5’6 and 135 pounds, both of us had enough space plus our dog) solid material, and you don’t have to worry about tipping it over. Our dog loved his first fishing trip. If we could give more than five stars, we absolutely would!!! Great purchase. P.S. We recommend getting at least 99” paddles since it is wider than a regular kayak.
