Thoughtful
Full of great ideas and things you need to know as a programmer. Not just for Ruby design!

Actionable information
This book provides a clear mental framework for thinking about OO design. I have not found a clearer or more cohesive exposition of the topic. I mostly work with python and OO books for python often merely march through the syntax and don't detail any overarching philosophy. This book filled a big gap in my knowledge. A bonus is that it is exceptionally well written.

Crystal clear explanations
It's not often that I read a programming book with the level of clarity this high. I enjoyed it and I walked away from it with more robust tools for dissecting OO code.

Good book on Ruby and OOP
Theory heavy in the beginning, but that helps the reader conceptualize OOP before getting the practical implementation thru Ruby code later.

Basic but good
I have already many years of experience with OOP with Ruby so most of these concepts are not new to me. However, I did takeaway a couple of patterns or ideas on how to improve some pieces of my code.I also found helpful the piece on how to test inheritances although in practice I’ve seen sometimes it’s more useful to apply other techniques not mentioned here. The book is super easy to read and well explained. It contains catchy quotes and easy to remember advice.

Clear, Useful, A pleasure to read
I bought the hardcover version long ago.The examples are illustrative. The style and organization leaves you with clear, focused take-aways, as opposed to most computer science textbooks. The examples are well-chosen and illustrate the principle/theory being put forth. It's a very approachable book, memorable, and very applicable.I'm not sure what people are complaining about with this book.It is better than so-called great programming books that are convoluted, unmemorable, has poor examples, or leaves things not thoroughly illustrated enough.
