Why do these terrible mishaps occur? Human error? Sabotage? Act of God? Mayday! features a sustained investigation of some of the most harrowing high-profile disasters of recent years, providing vivid reenactments and persuasive analysis. Skillfully assembled from information recovered from cockpit voice recordings, radio transmission transcripts and investigative reports, these dramatic recreations will put you right in the thick of the tragedy. You’ll share the panic that gripped doomed crews and passengers as the altimeter dropped! You’ll stand shoulder to shoulder with the people on the ground or the shore who strove desperately to stave off the inevitable catastrophe. Each one-hour episode of Mayday! also features compelling contextual material – culled from news sources, eyewitness reports and interviews with family members of the victims – to flesh out the portrait of tragedies like 1986’s VIA Rail collision in Canada, 1999’s EgyptAir Flight 990 disaster and 2002’s Puma helicopter crash in the UK. Furthermore, the series is loaded with fascinating coverage of the safety measures employed to keep these terrible incidents at bay – including looks at the timing of airline safety checks, emergency protocols for evading missile attacks and procedures for dealing with guidance and weapons system sabotage. Episodes: Hanging by a Thread, Attack over Baghdad, Out of Control, Fight for your Life, Bomb on Board, Mistaken Identity, Helicopter Down, Death and Denial, Kid in the Cockpit, Head on Collision, Collision Course, Runaway Train, Ocean Landing, Miracle Escape, Falling from the Sky, Fire in the Sky, Blind Landing, Hidden Danger, China Air, Out of Sight, Fog of War, Vertigo, Ghost Plane Review: Excellent buy if you like this type of show (DVD Edition) - If you're a fan of "anatomy of a disaster" shows like Seconds From Disaster, you'll like the show Mayday! (also known as Air Crash Investigations and Air Emergency). Comparing the show to Seconds From Disaster, Mayday! is a little less sensationalistic than Seconds From Disaster, but it still quite gripping. Based on the reviews here, I decided to get the 10-DVD set over the Blu-Rays, and I'm quite happy with it. There are 23 episodes spread out over 10 DVDs ... which will give you quite the Mayday! marathon. The DVDs are packaged in two heavy cardboard packages inside a larger box. The two cardboard packages are the same dimensions as a typical multi-DVD box set, so they're easy to store if you take them out of the larger box. The DVDs themselves contain either two or three episodes each of the series. Picture quality is decent - you'll notice some jitter in the credits, but nothing distracting during the shows themselves. There are no extra features whatsoever - it's a very basic set. Those who need closed captioning should avoid this set, as there are no subtitles of any kind and no closed captioning. Still, for the asking price, the DVD set is a great deal. Review: Fantastic Documentary ! - It is probably one of the best documentaies I have ever seen. The production is brilliant and full of clues that brought the cases of these accidents. Strongly recommended if you are a fan of planes, researcher, forensic, student, or anyone interested in these kind of accidents. The quality of the content is very good. I am not sure if the blue ray has the same quality. Some reviews suggest the blueray does not, have the same quality. But anyway, the most important thing is the content. I am very happy with my copy !! ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Contributor | Andy Webb, Jimmy Kaufman, John Larose, Jonathan Aris, Karl Jason, Phil Comeau | | Customer Reviews | 3.8 out of 5 stars 73 Reviews | | Format | Box set, Color, Dolby, Multiple Formats, NTSC, Widescreen | | Language | English | | Number Of Discs | 10 | | Runtime | 25 hours and 56 minutes | ## Product Details - **Format:** Box set, Color, Dolby, Multiple Formats, NTSC, Widescreen - **Contributor:** Andy Webb, Jimmy Kaufman, John Larose, Jonathan Aris, Karl Jason, Phil Comeau - **Language:** English - **Number Of Discs:** 10 - **Runtime:** 25 hours and 56 minutes ## Images ![Mayday! - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/819P5YdEV8L.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent buy if you like this type of show (DVD Edition) *by C***. on September 7, 2012* If you're a fan of "anatomy of a disaster" shows like Seconds From Disaster, you'll like the show Mayday! I am very happy with my copy !! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Only Season 3..... *by R***K on May 3, 2012* Watched this on my laptop and found that the disk is only season 3 not 3 and 4 as indicated. As for the video quality, Season 3 was shot back in 2004 and high def had really not taken hold by then. Video is interlaced and quality is what is to be expected for a TV series. Also, several episode have historical footage shot with what appears to be VHS cameras (Aloha Air for example) and those so about 240 lines of resolution....no amount of processing is going to fix that... Go watch other interlaced material like CSI and you will see the same artifacting. There is no 1080p broadcast material.....it is either 720p or 1080i. 1080p is Movie or PC/game console territory.... 3 stars for being incorrectly advertised..... 5 stars for content. If you want to know exactly what caused these flight and train disasters, you have come to the right place. Are they going to take the time and reincode for 1080p? Obviously not --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://botswana.desertcart.com/products/6823950-mayday](https://botswana.desertcart.com/products/6823950-mayday) --- *Product available on Desertcart Botswana* *Store origin: BW* *Last updated: 2026-10-16*
