Essential tool for HVAC and refrigeration work
The Honeytek A6013L Capacitor Tester is a very useful tool, especially in the field of refrigeration and air conditioning. I've used it multiple times to test capacitors in HVAC systems, and it has proven to be accurate and reliable. It's easy to use, provides clear readings, and covers a wide range of capacitance values. The device is compact, durable, and gets the job done without complications. If you work in refrigeration, air conditioning, or any field where capacitor testing is needed, this is a great tool to have in your kit. Highly recommended.

Worth the cost. Works fairly well.
I bought this to check capacitors quickly, even though I have several other meters such as a Fluke 289, Reed R5001, Extech and etc., I thought it would be a nice addition to my tools for the cost. I was a bit skeptical at first for 25 bucks. I received the item, and it appeared to be well packaged and in good shape. I opened the box and found a meter, pair of short leads and a single sheet of paper with copied instructions in the ever so popular chinese interpretation of english which is sometimes very comical and other times frustrating. The case was cheap plastic and had a rubberized orange jacket around it with a flip out kick stand in the back. The unit came installed with a battery as do most test equipment now. There are three ports for probes at the bottom, the two outer ports seem to be identical, and it does not appear to make a difference which one you plug into to. They are both labeled the same, and in the instruction sheet they are both numbered the same. Not sure why you would need two identical ports but I guess it is nice to have a backup or maybe use two different style probes at the same time. After plugging in the probes and turning the unit on I found a crisp LCD screen with a rather bright backlight which is nice. The white light will fade as it times out which is a nice touch. I proceeded to test some know capacitor values, electrolytes, foil, etc. All values seemed to be within tolerances, but I did find that the meters tolerance varies a bit when you get into the pF capacitors. Also, keep in mind that the probes lead add about 20 pF to the meter so you either need to zero out the display or subtract that from your measured value which is no big deal. Measured values in all ranges except the really high pF capacities seemed to be within 5% of the Fluke 289 measured values with the exception of a 10% margin of difference in very small capacitance values compared to the Fluke 289. What this comes down to is, this meter is a great value for 25 bucks! It is not lab precision but I would not expect it to be for the cost. For 25 bucks, you get a down and dirty quick way to measure and test capacitors in a small lightweight case that can easily be thrown in your toolbox or bag to take along. And at 25 bucks, the fear of damage, loss or theft is minimal. I would recommend this meter to anyone that is in need of a budget capacitor tester that appears to be fairly accurate across most of its range.โ

Capacitor Tester purpose versus cost
This item is not expensive, but lets you check the condition of the capacitor in question quickly and easily. It is worth the cost.

Great too for the price.
Was surprised how accurate it was (especially for the price). Saved me a bundle of $$$$. Ordered Cap on Amazon, and VOILA my furnace motor is once again working. Now I need to check the Cap on my AC unit, and replace it before it fails. I checked the battery in the unit and it was bard new, measured over 9.7 volts on my Multimeter. Also for the user who complained the leads are too short, the length of leads are important for the accuracy of the reading, as long leads will add capacitance to the reading and give you false readings.

Junk Tool - Avoid at All Costs
I bought this Honeytek A6013L capacitor tester and I regret every cent. Right out of the box, it was a disaster. The included 9V battery was already installed, completely dead, and had leaked inside the unit. The battery compartment has no enclosureโthe battery literally sits pressed against the back of the LCD screen. Who thought that was a good idea? The LCD is connected to the board by thin wires that were pinched between the casing, a blatant quality control failure. The casing itself is held together with self-tapping screws that strip the plastic the first time you open itโso even basic maintenance wrecks the thing. The leads are a joke: short 6-inch wires that barely reach anything and donโt even fit securely in the slots. As for performance? Itโs not auto-ranging, and every capacitor I tested measured 10% off across the board, regardless of the value or range. This isnโt a toolโitโs barely a functioning toy. Between the horrendous build quality, inaccurate readings, and total lack of proper engineering, Iโd give this zero stars if I could. Save yourself the headache and spend your money on something thatโs not landfill-ready straight out of the package. Do not buy.
