The product description is incorrect.....
The product description is not correct! This particular model does offer what is called the "chime silence option". However, this model does not have the automatic night time silence option, as described above. You have to manually turn off the chime. If you zoom in on the picture, you can just make out a level just to the right of the numeral "3", where you are required to slide the lever up (off) and down (on) in order for the chime to properly. Also, if the chime is off, the left and right weights will not operate. The left chime is for the hour strike and the right weight is for the chime itself. The center weight is for the actual time movement of the seconds, minute, and hour hands.I was hoping when I received this award gift, that it would have the automatic silence option. The silence option starts at 10:00pm (last hour strike heard) and silence option turns off (sound heard) at 7:15am. If the chime & hour strike stops at 10:00am and sound starts at 7:15pm, you must adjust the time of the clock by 12 hours. Some models even offer the option of changing the chime that you hear. This model does not have that option, as well. I looked at one model that does offer these options....over $7000.00, naturally at Amazon.com.Still, all in all, it is a very nice 30-year service award from my company.....yep, there are some that still do that....can you believe it!
