It Just Works. Didn't Realize How Much Time and Space This Would Save Me.
I am a DIY-electrician - I watch the videos and I read-up before starting an electrical project, so I want tools that are easy to learn and use and will help me complete a project safely and right the first time (always turn off the power at the panel before work). This tool takes the place of several others: it cuts the outer sheath, strips the wires, and puts the right bend on the end for attaching to outlets and switches. This tool is versatile and saves me space in my belt as it replaces strippers, blades, and pliers. This is helpful when I'm up on a ladder and space is at a premium. The tool is sturdy and made well (material: plastic and metal blades), it strips precisely (doesn't over-strip), it's light and easy to carry, and it's pretty cool too!

One Tool, Zero Hassle: This Klein 5-in-1 Cable Ripper Ended My Multi-Plier Pocket Nightmare
For yearsโliterally decadesโof doing wiring projects, I've carried around a ridiculous assortment of tools just to get started: needle-nose pliers, lineman's pliers, a razor knife for slitting jackets, dedicated wire strippers, and whatever else I needed for looping wires onto outlets or switches. Half the time I'd nick the conductor while cutting the outer insulation, bend the loop crooked (making it hard to fit under a screw), forget one of the tools back in basement, orโworst of allโdrop something off the ladder while juggling everything. And don't get me started on how heavy and uncomfortable that pocket full of metal felt, constantly pulling my pants down.Enter the Klein Tools L1412 5-in-1 Cable Stripping Tool (for 12-14 AWG, NM Cable Ripper for 12/2 and 14/2 Romex, with magnetic back and wire looping hole), and it's like someone finally designed a tool that actually understands real-world electrical work. This compact, lightweight gem does everything in one small form factor:- Effortlessly splits and removes the outer jacket on 12/2 or 14/2 Romex without risking damage to the inner wires (no more accidental nicks from a razor knife).- Strips the individual 12 or 14 AWG solid conductors cleanly and precisely.- Has a built-in wire looping hole that gives you a perfect, consistent bend every time for hooking onto switches, outlets, or devicesโno more crooked loops or fighting with pliers.- Bonus features like twisting winged wire nuts and a magnet for sticking to your ladder or toolbox keep it handy. It's bright orange so I never lose it, and it's so slim it slips into my pocket without weighing me down or feeling bulky. No more tool overload, no more mid-job frustration, no more wasted time searching for the "right" plier. If you're a DIYer, or anyone who does residential wiring, this is one of those simple-but-brilliant tools that makes you wonder why it took so long to exist. Klein nailed itโhigh quality, thoughtful design, and it truly simplifies the prep work. Highly recommend; it's become a permanent resident in my pocket now.

Biggest Benefit - Simplifies Cutting and Stripping of Romex Jacket
PROS:Klein is considered a trusted maker of high quality electrical tools and is one of the top brands used by professionals. This one tool takes the place of a knife, a wire stripper, wire cutters, and needle nose pliers (for bending wire). It's small enough to carry in your pocket. It's faster than using multiple tools to prepare Romex, once you get the hang of it.It's safer than using a knife to slice the Romex PVC jacket down the middle. The length of the tool is designed to match the length of jacket you'll want to strip for the wires to go into a typical junction box.Cons:The tool works best with 14-gauge Romex. I tried it on 12-gauge and had a hard time getting the conductors stripped without them being nicked by the stripping blades. It's sometimes difficult for the tool to cut the Romex jacket and paper wrapping once it's been separated from the conductors. I'll need to practice that more.I'm not an electrician, but a homeowner who occasionally does projects involving 120 VAC wiring.I wish I had discovered this tool 20 years ago (if it existed). In the past I've always used an X-Acto knife to slice the Romex jacket down the middle where the ground wire is, so that I wouldn't damage the hot and neutral conductors. It always seemed a bit dangerous and I worried about the knife slipping. This tool slices the jacket properly and fairly easily, once it's correctly positioned on the end of the Romex. It's a great and inexpensive tool for occasional use, but I have to wonder how long the cutting surfaces will last if used by a professional. Overall, I'm happy I found it.

Great product but often snags when splitting sheath
Overall Great product. Nice and Compact. The stripper is easy to use especially in tight spaces. I also love the magnet. Only compliant is that when splitting the sheath half the time it will snag on the paper inside and jump off the romex. This ends the cut prematurely which is not a great spot to be in when in tight spaces. In those cases the splitter won't get back on the line so I end up just using my knife to finish the cuts like I used to. I did note that if there is a slight bend or kink in the line this is more likely to happen. Seems to happen less frequently if line is stright off the roll and doesnt have any slight bends in it.

A must have tool!!!!
This tool makes stripping the sheath off so easy and I don't have to worry about cutting into the hot and neutral wire. The material helps give you a good grip to keep your hand from sliding off of it. Excellent tool. Must have for your electrical work!!

Multipurpose & slices and removes jacket very easily to the perfect size.
This is a great multipurpose finish out tool when you're stripping your jacket back slicing it off. High or low it gets it to that perfect 1 inch of jacket you need left in and slices it off so easily. Not sure I would use it to strip and bend the wire itself. For that I like my Klein K12075 Heavy-Duty Wire Stripper, Slim-Forged Design, Self-Opening Wire Stripping Tool, Electrical Pliers with Shear Cutter, Cable Stripper Tool.

If you do any type of electrical work, this tool is for you.
I am not a contractor, I just do jobs around the house and a friend and I were running a new light and switch and he pulled this tool out that he had found in an Ollieโs. We used it for stripping the new wire and I thought it was cool, and then I went on and saw a video of everything it can do and I purchased it right away. You can tighten wire nuts with it, bend wire for loops, strip wire ends and separate the wire , so worth it. Great to have when needed and will come in handy for the jobs I do around my house or my sons.

Decent budget option, but requires extra effort
This tool works, but it takes some finesse and a bit more effort than I expected. Stripping the jacket requires noticeably more force, though it does a good job cutting it off once you get through. For line and neutral wire stripping it performs well, and the circular bending feature is solid and easy to use. A cheaper option, so the extra effort is probably expected, but not as smooth as higher-end tools.

Great buy
Very handy tool. Does everything it says it does. Makes the job so much easier

Quick and convenient
Great to use just a single tool for a quick job. Iโm not sure itโs the easiest or will be the most durable for bigger jobs.
