5/5. This COLCASE fireproof document box is excellent overall. It’s briefcase-sized, feels very solid, and has great detachable compartments for cards, passports, and files, which makes organizing important documents easy and flexible. The hard-shell build gives confidence for storing valuables, and the zipperless aluminum frame design feels secure and premium. Price is great. Things to improve: I wish it came with different color options for the handle and lock (black instead of grey), didn’t use a TSA lock since most likely wont be checking it in, and had a less sticky exterior—the surface tends to attract pet hair pretty easily.

Got this for my Son who is just starting out and definitely could use the help in keeping his important paperwork and documents in one place. It’s a perfect size can hold his laptop if needed and it doesn’t take up too much space. Also it’s easy to open and close. I like that it is fireproof. All in all it was a good choice. Plenty of colorful folders

I’m using this to store important documents like birth certificate, titles, ssn card, passport, tax documents, etc. I like that it uses a code lock instead of a key—just feels more convenient. That said, it’s not exactly high-security. If someone really wanted to, they could force the zipper open. It’s more useful for keeping things private from someone snooping than for theft protection. If you’re really worried about security, it’s best to keep it in a proper safe. The built-in folder storage is a nice touch, though I wish it could be removed to make access a little easier. Not a huge deal, but something to improve on. There’s also a good amount of space at the bottom—you can fit extra documents, binders, and even a 15" MacBook without an issue. There are a few slots that seem meant for pens or similar items, but they don’t really serve much purpose. I would’ve liked to see more mesh pockets for random smaller stuff instead. If there’s ever a fire, this would be easy to grab and get out with your important documents. Hopefully, I never have to test the fire resistance, but it does feel like it could handle some heat. Still, I doubt it would hold up in a serious fire. Overall though, it seems to be solid option for organizing and quickly accessing your important items.

I have purchased an older version of the Colcase fireproof document box before. This new version is the hard case model, which is exactly what I’ve been wanting since I will be traveling soon. Previously, I had a laptop damaged due to insufficient protection (I usually travel with two laptops, each in a separate bag/backpack). Unlike the older model, this one does not collapse. To test its durability, I placed a 10-pound dumbbell on it and also applied pressure from the top. After leaving the dumbbell on for about 10 minutes, the area popped back to its original position. A 15-inch laptop, like the MacBook Air 15" shown in the picture, fits perfectly. I’ve uploaded pictures but avoided uploading a video using a match/fire because Amazon does not allow it based on my experience. I appreciate that the case is water-resistant, which is essential for me as I’ll be around water frequently during my travels and swim at least once a week. This means I can keep my laptop inside and check my work/personal email right after swimming. Additionally, I can use this case as a lap table while traveling and not worry about spills from myself or others in crowded areas like food courts or restaurants. The product description states the weight is about 4.76 pounds, but it feels lighter, comparable to the MacBook M3 15" which is about 3.3 pounds. The construction feels sturdy yet light, likely due to the materials used, and the frame helps prevent the bag from collapsing inward. Another plus is that the bag has a pleasant smell, not strong but clean. I've had other bags from different manufacturers that had a horrible odor, possibly due to chemicals used for sturdiness, waterproofing, fireproofing, etc. This isn't a scientific review, but so far, I’m glad I found this product. By the way, I had a hard time finding this product, possibly because it's new? I hope this review is helpful, and it would be great if the company could develop a backpack version in the future that can fit at least a 17-inch laptop.

this fireproof case is just a hair too tight to make it incredibly comfortable. With the tight fit for the files and paperwork inside the frame it does remove any extra space for oxygen /air to gather and feed a fire so yes it works very well … So yes it performs very well and it appears to function incredibly by limiting anywhere heat to gather inside the fire case to form a combustible space for high heat to be created. good buy i’m comfortable with it doing as advertised…

Poor quality! I bought the case in January but didn’t open it up until now. The inside lining has a zipper with the pull handle hidden but part of the zipper is split. Also, the backside of the flat component that has slots for cards, etc., had two white spots with a dusty substance that looked like spider sacs or the beginning of a web. I saw no sign of a spider (live or dead) so those were there when it was shipped. I wiped them off but you can still see the remaining view in the pics attached. It’s on me that I didn’t check it out before the return window closed. I will have to donate this to someone and find something better for me.
