As expected, heavy duty! Lots to love about this pedal once adjusted and set up.

Was pleasantly surprised as the quality/heavy duty aspect of this pedal. It did take quite a bit of adjusting to get to feel right, well worth it once adjusted (as any quality pedal would take as well). Here are my thoughts and what I'd want to know before buying this:Pros:-reversible beaters (so you can use the plastic side for more "slap" or felt side for traditional sound-wing nut adjustable for attaching pedal to bass drum (don't need a drum key to adjust)-drum key included-mine had a total of 3 springs, 2 springs were acting as tension for the auxiliary pedal so I'd recommend taking one of them off and it will feel much more balanced-spikes available to twist out on both pedals if playing on a drum rug or carpet-extension rod adjustable from both sides, has an extra "redundant" screw which is nice to keep it fastened just in caseCons:-beater does not have a memory lock-rubber pads on bottom of pedals feel lightly glued on, felt like they may eventually fall off-there was one allen wrench adjustment for the auxiliary beater mount that was loose on mine, I have those tools so it was no problem for initially getting it set upOverall, super pleased with this double bass drum pedal.

Better Beater Beater.

Firstly, I have not been drumming for long... like less than a month. Electric bass and guitar for over thirty years, but never attempted drums... until now.I have a "starter" eKit and can almost keep the standard kick, snare, kick, snare beat going in time with the metronome.I eventually want to add a bit of double bass accents while playing. I figured I would need a double bass pedal in order to learn that.I don't have much experience with kick pedals, but do remember helping the drummer set up and kicking his bass drum for sound checks. He takes a lot of pride in his kit and had a nice pedal. This pedal is sturdy, connects to the eKit pad stand without issue. It actually connects and holds more securely than the pedal that was included with the kit.I was able to get the pedals set up, connected to each other, and the springs adjusted to my liking. there is an "extra" spring and clip for the left pedal, but that seemed redundant as there is two on the mail pedal.I left the left pedal spring off. They stay in place on the little rug I have set up on and feel a lot better than the other included pedal.I was getting a lot of "ghost hits" (for lack of better term) with the other pedal. I'd hit the pad with the beater and it would bounce and give me a second hit right after. Maybe I didn't have the tension set right, or maybe I was just sloppy and let me foot bounce. This pedal does not give me that second unintentional second hit as often.(I don't know if you can respond to these reviews, but if any "real drummers" can send me a clue about getting rid of the "ghost hit" it would be appreciated!)Anyway, over all this pedal does the job and seems to do it well. The price is under $100, and from what I see that seems to be a good deal. The pedal does not come across as cheap or "budget".I'm happy with the performance (of the pedal, I'm still working on my performance...) so far and can't wait to get it in the mix.

Terrible

Not sure if I got scammed or not. The pedal I received was not what was pictured. It was also scratched up and one of the set screws to adjust the beater position was stripped and wouldn't tighten. One of the pedals were super stiff unless the springs were completely removed.

Stay Away

I tried to like this pedal, but i just don't. I spent a lot of time trying to adjust the springs, pedal height, and beater distance to get a good feel, but it just doesn't. All the pieces feel quality, but something with the springs doesn't work. I played with it for around 2 weeks before switching back to my original Yamaha pedals.I tried adjusting the springs to get the left pedal to operate properly. Even taking the spring off the left pedal as suggested by other reviewers did not help. Sometimes a spring will just pop off for some reason, and it requires loosening just to get it back on. The left pedal just will not return to the proper position when pressure on pedal is removed. Its almost like it has a bad bearing or the machining for the rod is not smooth. After playing for about 15 min, the left beater started wabbling around and pedal feel became terrible. I found it was the set screw (with an Allen head) that had backed out and was no longer holding. I retightened and after a while, it became lose again. It needs Loctite to stay put.I would recommend staying away from this pedal. It is just not up to par with the mid-range pedal i bought used 20 years ago.

Good value

Drums can be ruinously expensive, so when dipping into the world of double bass pedals, you really want to tread lightly. I have a drummer-in-training in the house and wanted to let him see how he liked them. They are actually a fantastic value! They're pretty straightforward and built like any basic set would be built. The clamp and chains are good, and adjustment is simple, like any halfway decent set. I think these are great for their range.
