REMINGTON STEEL BEST OF - REMI [DVD]

I had forgotten what a gem this TV show was. Unlike so many fondly remembered programmes from yesteryear, this one truly stands the test of time as a result of its witty, well-paced script that deftly blends humour with intrigue and romance. The action is helped along by impeccable performances of the two leads. Special credit must go to Brosnan for his wonderfully charismatic performance as the urbane and debonair titular hero; it's easy to see why the programme quickly established him as a star and would lead to him being cast as 007.Across the episodes the writers pay fond homage to the screwball comedies and film noir genres of the 1940s and - unlike so many programmes today that forfeit substance for style - never forget that no amount of whiz-bang effects can make up for good old fashioned characterisation and a tightly plotted script.

I know it says, Region 2 box - set- import - Audio: English, but i didn't realize the writing on the DVD box and disc's would not be in English, but I did work out how to get the disc's to play in English.Disc two would not play on my DVD player that is connected to my TV so i had to watch it on my small portable DVD player, the extra bits apart from the extra episode were the same as in The complete first season box set.Apart from theses things, I enjoyed watching each episode, with the way they were scripted, the humour and the will they won't they. I first watched Remington Steele when i was a teenager back in the 80's and they are just as good now as they were then.The only other down side is you can't get all episodes in region 2, especially season 5, to see how they ended up.

I loved Remington Steel when it was on in the 80's so very glad to find this compilation dvd. A great set of episodes as far I was concerned.Being a foreign dvd it was a bit hard to identify episodes but you get around it ok.If you've never seen this you will probably be unsure why it was enjoyed at the time but it Was very much if it's era!!

Has German and English audio and subtitles, but only German menus, so took me a while to realise I had to go into "Eistellungen" - at the bottom of the episode menu - to get the setup I want.These programs are a delight to watch again for their own sake, but Pierce Brosnan's character looks like the perfect preparation for becoming James Bond, complete with double entendre.

This was bought as a Christmas present for my work colleague who is French and mentioned she liked Pierce Brosnan and loved Remington Steele. She does not use the internet for purchases and could not get Remington Steele DVD's in the shops. As it is a present I do not know about the quality of this product. Packaging is in German and English so I am hoping it will play okay in the UK.

I was not born when Remmington Steele was first released. This and series one were bought as a present for my mam who loved the show and not to mention mr brosnan. We now have a girls night every Friday watching Mr Steele and Miss Holt I'm now a fan myself and live in hope the rest of the seasons will be brought out in region 2

This only includes episodes up to the middle of Season 4 so it is a disappointment. I had expected to see the last as well as the first episodes. The text 'from all 4 seasons' is misleading because, for people like me who had forgotten/do not know that there was a Season 5, it implies the whole programme is covered. Watching episodes that only go up to half way through the pentultimate season is frustrating. What happened in the end?????

This DVD set is excellent and will play on Region 2 DVD players. I bought this thinking that the language was in english. It is not. It is in German with German and English subtitles. A big disappointment.

Ho visto quasi tutti i film/telefilm di Pierce Brosnan e alla fine, Remington Steele rimane il meglio: commedia, thriller, romance.(non sono un'appassionata del genere Bond: chiunque reciti)Anche Stephanie Zimbalist è eccezionale in quella che resta una delle migliori serie degli anni '80 (e di sempre).Per chi comprende solo l'italiano bisogna cercare su ebay.Chissà quando la metteranno su DVD anche in italiano?Io ho la fortuna di poterla capire in inglese: la 4° e la 5°stagione sono le migliori. Un gran finale da cinema.E' soggettivo questo "Meglio di" (Best of): circa 25 episodi tratti dalle prime 3 stagioni.Comunque lo consiglio vivamente

Wunderbar... Wer die 80er liebte kennt die Serie... 100%. Denn man kam daran einfach nicht vorbei!Die kühle und wunderbar charmante Laura (gespielt von Stephanie Zimbalist) und der unverschämt gutaussehende und witzige Remington-oder wer auch immer er ist (gespielt von Pierce Brosnan) sind das absolute Traumpaar für eine Serie wie diese. Witzige aber auch teilweise verzwickte Detektivgeschichten ohne zu viel nackte Haut oder Gewalt - immer mit einem bißchen Nervenkitzel und dem Knistern zwischen den beiden Hauptpersonen... Die Box ist leider nur ein "Best of", wie schon von vorherige Rezessenten erwähnt. Positiv ist, dass es auch wirklich mit der allerersten Folge der Serie beginnt. Danach wird es jedoch etwas weniger nachvollziehbar, was die laufende Story der Hauptdarsteller betrifft. Den Detektivgeschichten in den einzelnen Folgen tut dies zwar keinen Abbruch, aber wer erst "Fan" wird und die alten Folgen nicht kennt wird sich fragen, warum zwischen Laura und Remington einmal die Funken sprühen, es knistert und plötzlich wieder Kühle herrscht. Auch, dass sie einmal "per Du" und später wieder per "Sie" sind kann verwirren... Schade ist es, dass eine entscheidende Doppelfolge "Liebesgrüße aus Acapulco" nicht auf die "Best of" kam. Hier hätte vieles "nebenbei" erklärt werden können und nicht zu vergessen ist, das ist die Folge, in der die absolut coole Miss Mildred Krebs in das Leben der beiden tritt. Auch sie sollte man nicht vergessen - gespielt von einer grandiosen Doris Roberts. Allerdings finde ich, dass die Folgen wirklich nicht schlecht gewählt sind und ich war überrascht wie wieviele meiner "Lieblingsfolgen" doch darauf sind. Ok... Ich hatte fast nur Lieblingsfolgen :-)... Es sind 6 Discs mit jeweils 4 Folgen. Die 7. Disc enthält eine Sonderfolge und wie ich finde, sehr schön gemachte Sonderausstattung, wo noch einmal über die Hintergründe gesprochen wird, wie alles begann, was die Erfinder sich dabei dachten usw. Um so schöner noch, dass Pierce Brosnan selbst über seine Rolle spricht. Würde mir diese Box sofort wieder kaufen! Ich glaube, auch für Interessierte ist es eine nette Unterhaltung. Nicht zu schwerer Stoff, viel Witz, viel Charme und viel Augenzwinkern lassen die guten alten 80er nochmal lebendig werden!
