Triple bill of comedies starring Will Hay. 'Radio Parade of 1935' (1934) was one of the first screen outings for Hay. He plays the Director General of the National Broadcasting Group (NBG) who hides away in his office unaware that the general feeling about his programming is that it is too high-brow and the public are not happy. However, when he discovers this he decides to take action and promotes Jimmy, his Head of the Complaints Department, to Programme Director. Jimmy decides that a series of variety spectaculars are what the public want and sets about hiring the acts. But obstacles are put in his way and he discovers that the NBG has its own cluster of wannabe variety stars. In 'The Ghost of St Michaels' (1941), the outbreak of the Second World War results in the boys' school of St Michaels relocating to Dubain Castle on the Isle of Skye. The new schoolmaster (Hay) scoffs at the legends of a ghostly piper which haunts the castle - until two headmasters come to a grisly end. Who will become the next victim of the phantom piper? In 'The Black Sheep of Whitehall' (1942), Hay plays Professor Davis, the intrepid head of a correspondence college. Davis gets wind of the fact that a Nazi spy has infiltrated an economic delegation with the intent of undermining attempts to reach a trade agreement between Great Britain and certain South American countries. The effort to expose the dastardly fellow sees Hay adopt various disguises in a steady onslaught of mistaken-identity comedy. Review: Fantastic - Great selection of classic films from a bygone age, great scripts, great acting harmless fun for all the family form some of Britainโs lost comic geniuses . My favourite being Oh Mr Porter. Recommended Review: Legend - One of the best screen comedians ever. This set includes some of his best work and some of the best comedy from the 1940s in general.

will hey
What a great set. These three films from the 1930's and 1940's are well worth every penny. Watching these films for the first time in years was excellent. My favourite is of course THE GHOST OF ST. MICHEALS where Will Hay plays his trade mark baffoon teacher, in THE BLACK SHEEP OF WHITEHALL he plays in six different outfits to get a new job with a very young sir John mills and in RADIO PARADE OF 1935 he takes the role as a suave D.G of a large broadcasting company. Three very different films and of course many different sides to Will Hay, other stars include Charles Hawtrey, John Laurie and Sir John Mills. So if you are wanting to see Will Hay for the first time or want to see different sides of him this is the box set for you *****

Brilliant
Will Hay is a genius. He was a pilot, astronomer, boxer etc. But is first and foremost a very funny man. I recall my grandfather watching these films and now Iโve discovered them. Hay is so funny. His timing is perfect and these are a great example of British humour. Highly recommended.

Hay Hay Go Buy This
What a gem of a box set this is and what condition it was received in. No damage and well packed. The films are hard to find nowadays and come beautifully packaged. A true must for all Will Hay collectors. Put these discs into your player and reminisce in the bygone days when films were just so simple but great entertainment and with not a sniff of violence or bad language. Long may Will Hay live in our hearts.

very very funny
I got this recently for my husband who enjoys these types of films. He has been plagued with problems lately and I haven't seen him smile for some time. However, he was belly laughing during watching these films which was so good to see. Will hay comedy isn't my choice of films, however, I too raised a few chuckles throughout the films. If you want escapism and lol watch and you too will laugh

Excellent set
This is worth buying for "THE BLACK SHEEP OF WHITEHALL" alone, but when you also get "THE GHOST OF ST MICHAEL'S" it really is a great set. The other film "RADIO PARADE OF 1935" does not work quite so well. I had to pause "THE BLACK SHEEP OF WHITEHALL" twice, as tears of laughter were rolling down my face. Never will I think of port and nuts in the same way again. Would definitely recommend this set. The picture quality of the DVD is excellent.
