MiniSun Chrome Effect 30" / 76cm Modern Ceiling Fan with Frosted Glass Light Shade & Reversible Blades

Frustrated: I’ve installed quite a few ceiling fans for myself and other people and this one was, by far, the most fiddly and difficult one I have ever encountered. It took, for example, 3 times as long to assemble and install as the Westinghouse one I did a few weeks ago. The difficult installation is partly due to dumb design and partly due to the appalling installation instruction manual (which mostly comprises of difficult to understand diagrams and almost no text). So, all in all, we’re off to a very bad start.Disappointed: I am shocked by how little down draft this fan creates – even on the highest speed. Again, the Westinghouse one I installed a few weeks ago gives off a much greater down draft (and, incidentally, has the same overall blade diameter). Also, I am surprised (and a little concerned) by how hot the motor section gets (too hot to touch once the fan has been running for a little while).It would be too much trouble to take this fan down, disassemble it, and send it back. If this wasn’t the case, I would certainly do so as it is pretty poor. On the plus side, I like the way it looks, that it is quite quiet, and the fact that it takes two bulbs. Other than that, I’m afraid it is an absolute dud.

Review after 24 hours of purchase.Decent fan incorporating 2 4w LED bulbs, works well and relatively quite apart from slight hum (similar to the PSU of a desktop pc). Installation wasnt too bad and managed to fit it under the 2 hour guideline mentioned in the installation manual. Although they say a picture is worth a thousand words, a few words would be useful rather than the cryptic hyroglific picture diagrams the installation manual pretty much solely consisted of.Advice for anyone else planning to make purchase:Yes the fan is decent and this model seems to be one of the few that incorporate at least 2 4W LED bulbs (bright enough to mod light a 5x5m bed room, not sure about using it in a living or study area tbh).This will def be a 2 person installation. Look through all the steps of the manual before you begin.IMHO to make the installation alot easier (although the 2nd person will be needed specifically for this) do STEP's 16 - 18 fitting of blades onto fan unit (page 6 and 7 in installation manual) prior to STEP 5. For some reason the numpties who put the fan together during manufacturing overtightened the bolts that are required to be removed and fitted onto the fan blades to secure to unit. It is extremly difficult to try loosen the bolts fan is already secured to the ceiling as you do not want to put too much weight and strain on your ceiling and joists holding the fan unit.With the fan blades already attached to the unit, it will make installation about 20-30mins quicker but you'll need the 2nd person to hold the unit up whilst you fit the screws to secure it to the mounting plate.All in all, decent fan and light. Poor installation manual.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  If the fan motor had been straight on the shaft this would be a 5 star review. but it is not! the basic requirement of a ceiling fan is for it to be straight. if it had gone through any sort quality control it would have been obvious that it was not straight an would wobble badly.

A nice looking fan let down by not-so-easy installation, weak screws, ugly plastic pull chains that break easily, and hard to balance so there's no wobble! It looks nice (apart from the pull cords) but that's about it. A real disappointment.

I am an electrician but could test the unit as there were connections that i could not access without compromising the unit. I contacted the seller who were very apologetic and immediately provided a full refund without returning the unit . I must say they were very understanding and helpful. I will definitely purchase a replacement in the next week. Thank to all the team at the light factory

The fan was a lot bigger than I imagined but nonetheless, it works very well and cools the room down very effectively. It looks good as well!
