Lovely balance
I bought this knife in addition to a larger Shun knife I bought some time ago. The Zelite is a joy to use. Good and sharp out of the box (although not quite as sharp as the Shun I think) but the balance and feel is great. I'm very pleased with this addition to my kitchen setup. The size works really well for me and I now use this knife for most tasks. I'd probably use a thicker blade for heavier tasks but this one is great for all general cutting. Looks great too!

Quality and service from Zelite.
A good size knife for normal cutting and prepping although for swede and say butternut squash I would use my Kiritsuke knife or more than likely my Nakiri knife. The six inch chefs knife i can see becoming, along with the six inch utility knife, my "go to" knife(s). The knife is awesome, sharp out of the box and easy to use tho the weight balance is close to the handle. This however, doesn't, as far as I'm concerned, detract from it's use as it's a light(ish) knife and good enough to tackle most of what is thrown at. A whole lot more than pleased with my purchase.

Seriously Just buy it, you'll not be disappointed
This is just what I needed, I bought the 8" knife before but for me it was too big but this is bang on, I love it, it really is comfortable seriously sharp and easy to clean and it looks really cool, because it's packaged so nice it's great as a gift but I got it just for me, The first day I got it I decided to make a polish hunters stew, basically cutting a mountain of veg and 4 kinds of meat and it was a pleasure,. Seriously if you want an excellent do it all kitchen knife this is the one.

ZELITE..the last knife you'll ever have to buy ?
Damascus steel blade, need I say more? Okay, I will :) I've always admired chefs/cooks that can use longer, say 9 inch, knives, but though I have normal size hands I've always preferred a 6 inch chefs knife, for just about everything, and this one is excellent :) The finish on the Dalstrong is more impressive and it's edge near perfect but the Zelite's handle and, for the pinch grip, the bolster beats it for comfort, a close run though. You'll want a whetstone and guide, (get them at then same time to save on the postage !) as this is NOT a throw away when it gets dull knife, not one you'll just throw into the kitchen drawer when your done with it, you'll want to pamper this knife and show it off to your friends "It's sharp mind !" Well worth the price; Sabatier knives, which I've used since I could afford GOOD knives in the early 1980s are around the same price but no where nearly as good, though I managed to get nearly 20 years from them, I'm confidant these will last even longer, maybe the last knives I , or you, will ever have to buy, unless I drop it from a moving car ! A pleasure to use, and I do every day, if it went missing I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

This is a great chef knife
The knife is a good size for most food preparation jobs. It has great balance, looks great, is quite heavy but I like that. This is so sharp, it's far better than anything I've used before. Looking forward to adding additional knives from the Zelite Alpha Royal Japanese Series to my kitchen.

Dangerous knife! blade snapped when cutting cheese!
We were lucky no one was injured.

Not as sharp as expected!
Lovely knives, visitors to the house have admired them. Reason for 3 stars is the 6 inch knife came with the tip damaged, and 7 inch chef's knife wasn't sharp.

Wow, this is quite a knife. It exudes quality from hilt to tip. Have not used yet but I’m a knife guy and I’m impressed. It’s heavy, and handle has more Gerth than you would expect . It’s a beautiful blade I will keep box for travel with it (ha ha). It did need honing. Not a problem. In this and all good knives one needs to maintain edge always. Always have a ceramic steel near by and learn to use it properly . When it’s needs more than the steel I use a trizor 15 degree electric sharpener. Only use the honing wheel at first. Later use next wheel as needed and finish with hone wheel always. If you can handle a whetstone with an guide angle ,that provides the best edge . However I don’t use one. Whatever way you choose this knife deserves care, magnetic strip or a block is a must. Pro’s often send out to highly rated sharpening co.Update 1/22/23. Great for slicing boneless meats (get 3-4 cutlets from 1 breast) this is not a chopping knife. Japanese steel is very hard , use german steel for rough use it’s less likely to chip. Try a Mercer 7 inch Santuku.
