Potentially reduce dependency on medications
To start with, I am a person who had to have a really really expensive (very risky) surgery for a sinus issue. This nasal rinse system is fantastic. I used it after my surgery because I like how you regulate the pressure of the water through your nose. For starters, I prefer having to "place" the end of this nasal flusher gently to the nostril so it forms a complete gentle fit versus having to put the end of a ceramic neti pot spout up into the nostril to get the same seal/fit. If it is gently placed, there is no "closing" of the top as talked about in other reviews. I can see where you would want to apply pressure like that after using the ceramic neti pot, because you do have to have some minor pressure to fit the ceramic pot spout up into the nostril. However, that pressure is just not needed with this washer. My 7 and 9 year old were able to have complete success within 2 tries of using the nasopure system for the first time and faithfully use it daily either in the shower or over the sink. I am a former ceramic neti pot user and find this system so much more relaxing to use with better results. For the person who wrote about getting water down the back of their throat...not sure how that only happens with just this product. The "k" sound needed to close the throat off while using a neti pot is the same action used for this product. Guessing if it happens with this, probably is happening with the neti pot as well? Also, there is no need to "have to" buy their saline packets as someone mentioned. The packets are there as a matter of convenience and a choice option. As a matter of fact all mine are still in a drawer for travel situations. I continue to use the very economical pharma grade salt you can purchase in bulk and mix my own solution. I use 1/4 tsp of neti pot salt to the 8-oz nasopure bottle of water...and it is perfect for our families needs. A spoon from Cuisipro Odd Size Measuring Spoon Set is a great addition to this washer (you can get these spoons on Amazon). I store my spoon with the salt, then all that needs to be done is to put in 2 scoops of salt in the bottle and fill with water to the fill line. Equally Himalayan Institute (also on Amazon) sells bulk pharma salt and one of their products comes with a measuring spoon within the jar of salt (which I also have). Both run about the same price so if you don't want the extra spoons in your kitchen, get the jar of replacement salt with the spoon in it and after that just purchase the neti salt that is packaged without the spoon at the lower price. All in all this is one of the best investments we have made as a family. One member travels quite a bit in and out of the airports..and with that all the crud from everywhere comes home too. When I consider what it has cost us in the past for medications and co-pays to be at the doctor all the time with sinus infections, allergy issues or upper respiratory crud...yah....now, I am a firm believer in the proactive habit of nasal cleansing as a preventative measure for so many areas in our well-being. Benefits of nasal washing listed below (as cited on [...] and [...] along with [...]) through an internet search: Daily practice improves both nasal and sinus health. Clears out sticky, thick mucus and helps reduce nasal congestion by thinning secretions. Allows the sinus cavities to drain freely so allergens, irritants, bacteria, viruses and contaminants can be eliminated. Helps prevent upper respiratory infections like the common cold. Reduces dependency on medications such as antibiotics, antihistamines, nasal steroids, decongestants and asthma medications. Relieves nasal dryness. Improves sense of smell. Improves sense of taste. Helps to treat sinusitis and rhinitis. Reduces allergic rhinitis. Reduces coughing and other symptoms of post-nasal drip. May reduce snoring. May reduce nose bleeds. Clears airways affected by nose woes associated with pregnancy and maturity. Helps alleviate breathing difficulties caused by medical conditions such as Cystic Fibrosis and many others. Cleanses the nasal tissues stressed by radiation therapy to the head and sinus area. Deeper, more relaxed breathing.

Neti Pots and sinus rinsing works for a cold
Sinus rinsing using a Neti Pot works. Don't be afraid of it, hold your breath and you'll be just fine. Here is why I believe it works: I was a skeptic, I wasn't sure if it was worth the trouble of pushing warm salt water through my sinuses and nearly drowning myself to help recover from a cold that, by that point, had likely already left me partly drowning in mucous. I was stubborn, I didn't want to believe it could work. Until I got a bad cold that turned into pneumonia back in December. No amount of cold medicines or antihistamines worked, they only made me feel much, much worse, and it's expensive to make yourself feel worse in that case. I was working in customer service at the peak of the season, I had to be on my game and be able to concentrate and interact with people, so I took nothing, as nothing felt better than taking something, and suffered through it for the whole month of December until my immune system finally won the battle. Fast forward to a few weeks ago in April, 2017. Stay with me, I'm getting to the point soon. I started noticing symptoms of a cold about three weeks ago. I noticed the signs, thought it was allergies, and took an allergy pill for a few days, until I was finally convinced it was a cold. So I ordered Nasopure's Neti Pot specifically because it has a bend in the neck of the bottle and I like the nozzle. I'll warn you, the first couple rinses will feel weird until you get used to it. After rinsing my sinuses with solution using the packets that came with the Neti Pot for three days straight, up to twice a day, by the 4th day I had nearly zero signs of a cold. No post-nasal or sore throat, green or orange nose goo, sniffles, nose-blowing, nothing. I felt normal. Rinsing was an -instant- relief of sinus pressure. It was great. But be aware, after rinsing, for maybe 15 minutes if you have a cold, you will likely be a snot factory, blowing your nose every minute or so until your sinuses relax. That's ok, it was normal for me. Rinsing once every 8 hours or so did the trick for me, and would provide relief from all but the occasional nose blow in that span of time once my sinuses relaxed. I'm convinced, these things are curiously effective. But it's not just the bottle itself, it's the salt water (saline, basically) solution that does the work; the bottle is the means of delivering the solution for the rinsing. If you don't want to mess with it or take chances, Nasopure sells boxes of packets to make the solution. You fill the bottle with warm water (I just used tap water, but it's ideal to use purified water), snip the end off the packet, pour the pre-measured salt mixture into the bottle, shake, and rinse. If you're feeling brave, you can use simple sea (uniodized, because iodized will burn like you read about) salt to make your solution, sans whatever special things Nasopure adds to their concoction in the packets. How much you use for a custom mix is up to you, just don't use too much or it will get uncomfortable (experience here). Research it. I now recommend using a Neti Pot over cold medicine to everyone I come across who has a cold. Give it a shot, get rid of the snot. I hope it works as effectively for you as it did for me.

Not magic. But good
I have had sinus issues all my life, including allergies and general stuffed-up nose issues. I have had to have surgery in the past to deal with my problems. After reading all the glowing reviews, I wanted to give the Neti pot a try. I figured that at the least it couldn't hurt. I picked this version mainly for the design. I know myself well enough to know that if something is inconvenient, then I probably won't keep up at it. I wanted a pot that was easy to use and that I could use in the shower. This design is perfect on both accounts. You don't have to do that awkward head-back bend thing to get the solution into your nasal passage. I buy the pre-measured saline mixtures, and they pour easily into the pot. I have been using it regularly for about a year now. I have heard all sorts of wonder stories about Neti pots, that they are life-changing, etc ... the real result is that it does do a nice job cleaning out the nasal canal, but that is about it. Neti pots aren't magic. I still have to take allergy medicine in the season. I still have some issues with a stuffed-up nose. But the Neti pot does make things a little bit easier, and has become part of my normal routine. I recommend the Neti pot, but as with most things like this it is best not to set your expectations too high.

Want to rid your sinuses of goop and goo? This is the best tool for the job. Use with filtered, warm water, and add the baking soda/ salt packet, and youโve got a powerhouse sterilizing, cleaning apparatus that will turn your sinuses into a happy, crystal-clean palace.

It feels nice on your nose!
I bought this product as a recommendation by my allergy doctor. I am allergic to everything thatโs environmental, so my nose is always itching and running. I was very scared of using it because I thought it was gonna hurt a lot. I was very surprised at how easy it is to use this. The instructions are great, it tells you exactly what to do and how to do it. Beware, it can get very messy, but the feeling of a clean and hydrated nose is really the best feeling. This is perfect for you whoโs is suffering with allergies and stuffy nose. One thing to know is that you will need to replace the bottle every 3 months or so, so keep that in mind. Also, itโs very important that you read all the instructions, because if you donโt do it right it will hurt.

Cap is unfortunately shaped so that bacteria can grow
I've had allergy and sinus problems for many many years, even having sinus surgery (things are much better now). I've been using saline rinses twice daily for years and have tried a couple of different types, as well as the Simply Saline nasal spray mists which are pressurized. I wish the bottles came in larger than 8 oz, so I don't have to fill so often, but they all seem to be the same capacity. I loved this one and thought it was a nice simple design with good bottle that is easy to squeeze. No leaks, no problems. Until today when I cleaned and filled it yet again (which I do about once a week) and noticed there is black bacteria inside the rings of the cap. Nasty! I have never noticed it before, but who knows how long it's been there. I rinse it out several times with hot water in between fillings, and have at times put it in the dishwasher as well (but I wasn't sure if the latter was okay for the plastic, so I did this only intermittently). I'm currently soaking the cap in boiling hot water to try and clean it, but as this is probably going to be an ongoing problem, I will probably buy a different bottle type with a different shape cap. The salt packets that come with it are fine and not irritating at all. They ran out long ago and I have been using a half teaspoon of table salt since, which works just as well. Update: It took several tries to get that cap perfectly clean, but undiluted bleach with a 12+ hour soak, did it in the end. I browsed around for other bottle types, but in the end I decided to keep this one because the cap locks so it's still a good bottle to travel with (I empty the water out first, just add the salt inside, then when I get to my hotel fill it with Aquafina). If I'd known about the cap bacteria-potential problem I wouldn't have bought it, but to me the portability of the bottle now does positively outweigh having to clean it with bleach from time to time.

Great product, store bottle upside down
I have used this product for over a decade and its been a life saver. Cleans the back of the throat and eliminates the bad breath that can develop over years of sinus drainage. BUT, I learned that if the bottle is stored upright the mold will occur much quicker. I store it upside down, angled so that it drains and gets air. The last bottle lasted years before I had to replace it.

Easy to use
This is a product for anyone who likes to have a nasal washout each morning. The crooked neck makes it easy with no mess. Nothing but praise for this. I bought it to replace the one I already had which developed a pinhole after 4 years daily use.

Expensive but Effective
The product is expensive for what it is & the margins against manufacturing must be extremely high, given its essentially a plastic bottle. However, very good for the purpose its intended for & much better then a standard neti pot. No awkward bending & any unused saline solution can be stored & reused within a reasonable time period. I have a SinuPlus Elite also which is effective for purpose but much more expensive (circa ยฃ1115). The NasoPure is a good, cheaper option though relatively expensive in its own way. I use mine with Himalayan Institute Neti Pot Salt
