Excellent Canned Tuna
Vital Choice tuna is wild-caught, sustainable Albacore.Product of USA. I received the variety packed in extra virgin olive oil. Claims to be dolphin safe, kosher and gluten free.Solid white tuna, carefully packed, six in a box and then shipped. Easy open tins with pull tabs.Contains tuna, organic extra virgin olive oil and sea salt.Personally, I prefer chunk white style, but the solid white is an acceptable substitute. Great tasting canned tuna.

Delicious and Large Chunk Canned Tuna - Perfect for Tuna Salad (or Eating Straight Out of the Can)
My kids love to eat canned tuna as a snack. It doesn't require cooking, can be easily customized with spices, mayonnaise, or add-ins like carrots or celery, and it takes less than five minutes to go from can to sandwich or tuna topped crackers. The Vital Choice Albacore Tuna is an excellent canned tuna that tastes delicious and comes in sizeable chunks that look like a cut straight off of the fish. The tuna only includes Pacific Albacore Tuna, organic extra virgin olive oil, and natural sea salt. It is caught using dolphin-safe methods and is certified as a sustainable seafood option. The can doesn't include a whole lot of liquid in it like other cheaper brands and you get a lot of meat per can. The thing that really makes this particular tuna stand out in comparison to other cheaper brands is the taste and texture of the tuna - the flavor is fantastic and doesn't have a fishy aftertaste. It's not overly greasy even though it's canned in oil, and the tuna is not overly salty so you can season it as you like. The texture is very firm but can easily be broken up into smaller chunks. I haven't seen tuna this intact before - most of the cheaper brands have shredded tuna that's compressed into the cans. The only thing that would stop me from purchasing this tuna is the price, and that is because the kids go through a lot of tuna! If price were no object however, I would definitely buy this tuna regularly as you're really getting high quality fish. If your budget allows, this is a delicious tuna to consider.

Very nice, chunky tuna with great flavor
It has been a long time since we've had tuna in oil. What we've been buying has been the canned tuna in water, mostly to help cut down on fat and calories. However, we had to give this a try since we do enjoy having tuna salad and sandwiches. When we first opened the can, there was no strong fishy odor to it at all. You could smell that it was tuna/fish, but nothing overwhelming. The oil wasn't as heavy as we'd thought it would be. The chunks of tuna were nice and big, very obvious which was nice because it allowed us to flake it to the consistency we wanted. We did drain the excess oil off, and this left enough of the oil for flavor and texture without it being greasy. We turned this into a tuna salad for tuna melts and it was great! The kids loved it, and even just ate it by the spoonfuls. We also used it, in chunks, on top of a lettuce based salad, with tomatoes and salt and pepper. This worked great with great flavor and having the bigger bits of tuna were a nice pop. We've used several cans already and each can has been consistent with flavor/aroma and texture. The biggest drawback is the very high cost.

Canned Tuna Doesn't Get Better Than This
Even though this tuna is packed in olive oil, it doesn't taste oily or fishy or salty. Instead, it tastes like the best canned tuna I've ever had. It's good enough to use as the centerpiece in a Salade Nicoise -- unless you have seared tuna, for which there's no parallel -- or in a light-on-the-mayo tuna salad. I love to combine it with sautéed onions, lemon juice, butter, thyme, and black pepper to toss it with penne or egg noodles. The tuna is meaty and firm. You can stick a fork in the center and lift the entire piece right out of the can. It's solid albacore. I love that it comes from smaller and therefore younger tuna to minimize mercury, lead, and other contaminants.Seriously, this tuna is excellent. Yes, it will cost you, but it's worth the occasional splurge to remind me that canned tuna doesn't have to be subpar.-- Debbie Lee Wesselmann

Good Tuna
PACKAGING: Packed in oil in a pop top can.APPEARANCE: Lump of tuna surrounded by oil. There is more tuna in this can then there is in a similar sized major brand can.TEXTURE: Very firm and dry. When I dumped the oil out - none remained on the tuna.FLAVOR: While I have no doubt this is high quality tuna, if I were given a blind taste test, I wouldn't be able to distinguish this from the major brands.IN RECIPES: My husband enjoys tuna salad. This makes a good tuna salad but, despite being packed in oil, it's rather dry and soaks up a lot of mayo. I did dump the oil off, we usually buy tuna in water, so I'm not sure how to use tuna oil.ETHICS: Vital Choice appears to committed to the environment and quality products. I like that this is certified sustainable.CONVENIENCE: Great as emergency food as it lasts a long time.LONGEVITY: Received on 2/24/2021 and the best by date is August 2025.

Good quality tuna.
Good flavored tuna and I like that it's wild-caught, and dolphin friendly. Use it for tuna salads (with and without mayo, tastes great). I haven't cooked with it, but would be good in pasta, or fish cakes, too.Would recommend this tuna.
