Because the solar tester is powered by the solar panel itself, I was little concerned that I would not be able to see the screen very clearly on cloudy days, but even though it was a semi cloudy day when I tested, the LCD tester screen displayed correctly all the power measurements. I won't be able to test the 1600W limit, but this solar tester gives me assurance that it will test my solar system which is rated around 1200W.

So far loving this. I purchased the 1600 watt version. I am installing solar and at times diagnosing systems this is a must have. I was just given a 400 watt suitcase panel that will pay for this device that was found in the trash restore said it was running perfect despite what looked to be damage to the untrained eye had two snail trails someone threw out a 500 dollar panel I now have for sale on marketplace for 2.5x this tester's cost super excited! Will update if I run into any issues! I gave it a 4 star because if you don’t have an mc4 removal tool you’d have a heck of a time using this. Now if your buying this chances are 99% you have an mc4 removal tool and if not there very inexpensive.

If you are going to buy used solar panels this is a must have.

I bought this as a "used, like new" deal to test individual solar panels that are 24v 100w. Screen never came on. I had read reviews and they seem good, so I'd think twice about buying some used item deals.

Plug and play panel tester. Everyone that has or uses solar panels should have this in their toolbox. Makes install and troubleshooting simple. Adds confidence that the final build will be what yu are expecting.

Handy little meter if your panel/array VOC is less than 60 VDC. Unfortunately for me, I try and keep my wire size to a minimum by series connecting the panels to use the higher input voltage on the charge controllers. This means if I want to use this meter, I have to disconnect each panel to test them individually. Some of my older panels are 90 - 115 VOC so I can't use this meter on them. Can't really fault the meter. I didn't read the spec. carefully.
