Unfortunately they're also technically complex topics with an extensive jargon of their own. Up until now, this has made it quite a daunting challenge for all but the most technically minded and patient of us to understand.Dr Julian Hosp has made a big dent in that problem with his book, which is quick to read and walks you step-by-step through all the obscure technical concepts and lingo surrounding cryptocurrencies and Blockchain. I enjoyed reading it, and in the process also deepened my understanding of what money is (another ... significant topic). If you're new to Blockchain and cryptocurrencies, you don't have a technical background, and want to get a quick but solid foundation in the subject, this is the book for you.

A very good book, he writes clearly and obviously has a passion for the topic. A few minor omissions - I had to go to Wikipedia for a definition of “hexadecimal” and “nonce” which are very simple to understand once told, but by using that terminology in the book without defining it was a shortcoming. Other than that, I recommend this book to get you up to speed to at least join a conversation about cryptocurrency without a blank look on your face.

Admittedly, I am not a fan of bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies. With possibly a few exceptions they appear to me to have no real intrinsic value, and I feel when properly understood some fiat currencies actually do. So why would I want to read this book? First of all, whether I like it or not, cryptocurrencies are here to stay. Some countries, such as Sweden, seem to be moving toward a cashless society. Cryptocurrencies will most likely play a growing role in such societies. Some countries, such as Venezuela and previously Zimbabwe, have created fiat currencies with absolutely no intrinsic value. Cryptocurrencies are good to have in such places as the local product is indeed worthless. Still other countries, such as the United States, may be looking at much higher inflation rates in the future. Under these conditions a cryptocurrency like bitcoin might be an excellent form of insurance.Secondly, Dr. Julian Hosp is a superb writer. He strives to make the cryptocurrency mystery understandable to a ten-year old or even an old character such as me. He succeeds brilliantly. By the time you finish this little book you will have a good command of cryptocurrencies, blockchains, wallets, forks and all those other mysterious things that bitcoin has spawned. Dr. Hosp also offers some basic investment advice for those brave souls who think they want to invest (speculate?) in this stuff. It is limited, but enough to make you aware of both the possibilities and pitfalls of trading these things. He knows his subject well as he is involved in cryptocurrency development. As a result this book is an excellent place to start obtaining knowledge of something most of us may need to use in the future, like it or not.

Quick and thorough read for those wanting to get an overview of Bitcoin, blockchain technology, and the cryptocurrency world we're heading in to. Dr. Hosp's ability to package complex concepts into simple and clear nuggets of knowledge makes this book a must read for those new to crypto's as well as those well versed in the topic. He covers basics and also turns on "nerd mode" to offer essential details along with plenty of links, resources, and even shares his investment strategy. There are other author's out there but few have actually walked the walk. If you're somewhat excited about the possibility of bitcoin and blockchain then this is a book that belongs on your shelf. Not to mention, his company's TenX "PAY" token belongs in your portfolio as well. This is a wise investment friends.

This book was everything I was hoping it would be. Dr. Julian Hosp does an excellent job of explaining the concepts of blockchain and cryptocurrencies in a way that makes sense. I was looking for a book that would not be over complicated and would be easy to pick up and run with. That is exactly what this book is. If you're searching for information that will help you form a basic understanding of how the entire crypto space works, I would absolutely recommend this book.

Good introduction, I personally like to see technical details, which is why I gave it three stars. It does have a clear writing style and is a good book, but is light on code or math details.

Impressive book, the details, the order, the writing, is very easy to understand the concepts and the examples gives the right perspective of the crypto world.

Julian has a knack for describing complicated topics in a straight-forward and easy to understand manner.
