This grinder would probably be a great grinder for small amounts of spices, which is what it's actually for. It is what it claims to be, a small spice grinder with a small capacity. I can't speak to how well it does on herbs and spices.I bought it to grind dehydrated chiles into chile powder. It can't grind thicker walled peppers like jalapeno, but it worked pretty well on my habaneros. It's just small amounts at a time. Next year I plan on buying a bigger grinder more suited to grinding chile.

At first, I thought it was because the rubber ring wouldn’t stay put but then I got it to stay and it still spills out the sides. I would say if you use this, make sure your surface is absolutely clean, no tiny lint, nothing. Also, you should have a paper and funnel ready because it’s gonna get everywhere and you’re gonna need all the help you can get scooping it together into your desired container. The moment you open the lid, what you’ve ground is going to go all over your work surface. The brush unit comes with works great as a broom to sweep it all onto your paper.

The blades do a good job of chopping and grinding. However, part of the yield ends up outside the cap and on the body of the machine.I purchased this one mainly for the compact size. I was hoping the reviews about not sealing well were over exaggerated, but as you can see in the pictures, I have super hot chili powder all over.It did a good job and I like the size.
