I injured my neck a few years ago and the pain was incredibly bad. Over time, it would settle down and then flare up depending on how I slept, whether I strained my neck, or any number of other variables. I didn't want to take over the counter or prescription pain medication every time I had a flare up so I started trying topical treatments. My sister, who had neck surgery and is always in pain, suggested Bengay Ultra Strength and so I got some. This stuff works. But it also has a very strong....Bengay smell. That all familiar medicinal scent that everyone recognizes. It was so strong, my eyes would water but when I applied it to my neck, the rush of heat then the cooling feeling really did work to soothe my pain. It worked so well that the only product I was using was Bengay Ultra.I have now moved on to more natural products which work very similarly but don't have quite the strong scent. I still like Bengay and will use it again if I have a bad flare up because there is no doubt in my mind that it really works and works fast. I just wish the odor were a little less strong. I have allergies and am sensitive to scents so every time I use this, I end up with tears rolling down my face from the scent. Still, for all intents and purposes, it works better than even prescription pain medication for my neck pain so I can't complain TOO much about the scent of the ingredients that relieve my pain. This is a large tube and it goes a long way. The price is reasonable too. It is better than Icy Hot and BioFreeze for me.
