Q: What is the variety of creations you can make with the set of six cubelets? Trying to figure out whether this will get old quickly for my son.

It will get old quickly. We got the full set of 20 and it got old quickly. That being said, it depends on the child. The cubes are Lego compatible so if you have a Lego builder these would made an awesome addition. If you have a highly imaginative child it could be an asset to their imaginative play. The cubes are made to break down robotics into their simplest form. If you want to create more complex things you can't. Definitely not with just this starter set.

Q: Can these attach to duplos?

If duplos attach to regular Legos I'd say yes. These are pretty small though. With the 6 piece set you get 2 connectors and everything has to balance. I got the 6 piece set and we immediately needed the 20 piece set and now they want even more pieces!!! I could see duplos with the larger set. Check out some of their YouTube videos to get a better idea.

Q: What age range is this toy appropriate for? Would a middle schooler or high schooler be interested in this?

The recommended age for Cubelets is 4 and up. I'd have to say the the age range goes probably from there, to about 10 years old. Some older kids might find it interesting, but I would say it tops out at around 12 years old. The same company (Modular Robotics) does make a different, more advanced system called MOSS. That system goes from 8 to adult. I hope this helped.

Happy

My son very happy with them could not be so dear . Day before my boys birthday I email the the seller round 6:30 pm before the big day and it came 8:30 in the morning . It says what it does in the tin but takes time getting use it and how it works .
