2nd try got it right
Purchased at $100 which is a good deal for getting a cal sticker. It did take two tries to get one that wasn't damaged during shipping. As many have said, in the era of Starrett selling $5 ABS plastic tape measures, the name no longer means what is used to; e.g. unfinished edges, zero shipping protection. Nevertheless, if you're needing something with >.001" accuracy and are willing to accept you may have to return a few to get a good one... this is unfortunately about your only option. (You might try the Chezck made one with the case if it meets your accuracy requirements.)
