Q: Do you have to remove the camera cover lense to put the camera in this housing?

Nope, it fits right in out of the box. But I will say get some of the anti-fog inserts before using this. I didn’t know I needed them and all of my snorkeling footage is entirely ruined as a result..

Q: How sturdy is the lock/latch? I had another housing and the latch was junk-attached by 2 thin metal 'fingers'.

latch is similar to original case, but with locking release lever to prevent from accidentally opening. real sturdy.

Q: how deep can this case go under water?

It is rated for 45 meters depth. But I would not take it quite that far.
