You don't know you've lived until you've used one of these trackballs. It takes a little getting used to but persevere and it's the dog's you-know-what's. I've used one on my old computer for years and now have one for my new speedy computer! One's on a dongle and the other's on Bluetooth. Until you try the easy, one hand action with no wrist or arm movement needed, you won't have lived. These are not cheap, but my enthusiasm means I've bought a 2nd one for my 2nd machine. Fabulous piece of kit. So easy if it starts to go wonky, lob out the ball, ensure its rollers are clean, give a blow to the sensor and you're away again. Far easier than cleaning the accumulated detritus from the bottom of a mouse and far easier to use. I love Kensington trackballs, unlike other brands, they work well beyond their warranty date! I've tried 'em all and this is the only brand that works on and on and on.

This is not my first trackball. My previous was an Elecom Huge, which I purchased due to my large hands. The scrollwheel broke on the Elecom after three years. So I was in the market for a new trackball.I saw a few Kensingtons models had a scroll ring, rather than a small wheel. But was concerned about size compared with my large hands. Orbit Fusion fitted like a glove, and it took no time to adapt to the layout. I instantly was using the scroll ring like I have had one all the time. It's very comfortable. The software from Kensington allows you to adjust speed, and adjust what the right button does, etc... A switch on the trackball allows you to adjust the DPI very simply. After messing about, I have the trackball running pretty precisely, but I think I need a few more days to fine tune. This shows on gaming, I don't play FPS or anything involving fast actions with the trackball. I have a joypad for that. But for strategy games, 4X, etc... It is great, but I found that maybe one in ten actions I do miss the area I am aiming for on the screen. It's a matter of adjusting to a new trackball. This is so comfortable.The main thing is no should, top arm, or wrist pain. This is why I swapped to a trackball years ago. I did try a horizontal mouse. After thirty minutes, the pain was back. This trackball, no pain at all. I have just used it for over 60 minutes. Not cheap, but a great buy. It feels solid, and like an adaption of my palm.

I am a long time trackball user, having used Slimblade and various Elecom trackballs. When my Elecom Deft Pro died, I decided to try the Orbit Fusion. I turned out to be a good trackball - reasonably well built and with a smooth ball out of the box - the Elecom for contract was a struggle in the first couple of weeks. The scroll ring could have been executed better - it feels lower quality compared to the rest of the unit. I used Steermouse to scroll with the ball - so that was not a big issue for me. Also, the wireless range is very poor - requires the dongle to be very close to the trackball. I ultimately did not like the shape of it - there angle between the buttons and the ball makes it really uncomfortable for me - a personal preference that does not affect the rating.

Excellent trackball bought to replace one of my older, ageing wired Orbit optical trackballs (which are still available btw). This replacement is easily as nice to use, plus the ball is much smoother and tracks nicely, lots of control (later technology). I think I preferred the switch design & positioning in the older Orbit, but it’s a very small point and not a problem at all. The scroll wheel works fine too, turns easy enough to spin it - a clever way to incorporate scrolling functionality.Using my Apple MacBook Pro there were no problems with either using Bluetooth or the wireless USB dongle with the default MacOS driver recognising it straight away. However, as with all Kensington ‘mouse’ products, you need to install their software to get the best out of the Orbit, assign button functions etc. - it’s a free download from their website. Here I ran into some problems relating to the MacOS version I’m using because the Orbit wasn’t being recognised. Eventually I ended up with version 3.1.5 which is working fine with this OS (v13.13.6 - “High Sierra” - hope this info helps others!).Using either wireless protocol the trackball does go to sleep if not used for a while (battery saving I guess). Clicking a button and twirling the ball wakes it up, no big deal (from memory this doesn’t happen with the wired trackball, presumably because there’s no battery).On the strength of this trackball I’ve bought another one to replace another old wired Orbit. The Mac recognised this as a new, separate device without problems and the settings on the Kensington software are applied to the other Orbit too, in other words, no need to set it all up again! Very pleased and thoroughly recommended!

ok, so its just been delivered, as reading mixed reviews on the trackerball mouse, and being told it takes a week to get used of it, no it doesn't, haven't had it five minutes and is so easy to move around with accuracy, found it to be really ergonomic and easy to use,The placement of the 4 buttons requires no movement of the hand, and can easily press any button just adding a little pressure on the button without having to move at all.Love it - buy one nowHaven't tried the bluetooth yet, just got it plugged in using usb as it needs charging anyway.Might try it for gaming as seems pretty precise, just wanted to share.

Mon métier m'oblige à passer de longues heures à l'ordinateur. La trackball permet une plus grande efficacité et rapidité. Il faut un peu de temps pour s'habituer aux boutons latéraux.

February 04, 2024 Update: Track ball works well. Doesn't seem to have but one issue and that issue is probably my problem. The scroll ring sometimes and my fingers don't jive causing me top hit one of the corner buttons. I must further practice, do much more practice.New Thought, 31dec23: Dragging and dropping, for instance, an email in MS Outlook to a folder can be challenging. I have not figured out the best method. Am looking for any ideas...28dec23: Overall, I like the trackball and am tentatively at about 60/40 thinking to keep the device. Has many interesting functions and possibilities. Will know more as I work to better use the device. I definitely need more practice with the trackball because my long-term use of a regular mouse allows me to be pretty fast with the mouse.Early Pro’s:1. Bluetooth connecting is really easy.2. Kensington Works software for the trackball is easily downloaded for the device and pretty easy to use although it is not overly intuitive.3. Large trackball seems very good particularly located in the mid position. Is good for me with some tremors and a shaky thumb compared with a side trackball. The middle trackball is far superior, for me, to the side mounted track balls. With practice, I am sure that I can rapidly move the cursor via the trackball.4. Left Click/lower left button works pretty well. I seem to have it pretty well figured. Using my thumb for this button.5. Right Click/lower right button not so handy as the Left Click button. Learning. May do better with it after more practice.6. Have not really used upper two buttons, yet.7. Scroll ring works well. Don’t have clicking noise that other reviewers have reported.8. Don’t know how the battery life will be; we shall see.9. Don’t yet know how the wrist rest will be although it seems okay with this short time review.Early Concerns:1. Will take considerable practice for me which I am willing to do to become proficient with the trackball.2. Have already learned to be very careful not to simultaneously touch the trackball while trying to scroll. Is easy to do! Result is my inadvertent action takes me some crazy place I did not want to go!

El trackball tiene una pinta del futuro en el escritorio, se ve genial, pero es lo unico que puedo decir que me gusta de resto pense que seria algo muy comodo el siguiente nivel de la ergonomia pero tiene una curva de aprendizaje pronunciada llevo un par de meses usandolo y todoavia hay cosas que no se sienten bien adicional a problemas de precision, que con mi trackball anterior logitec mx570 no tenia ningun problema. No es un mal producto pero para este nivel de precio la presicion no deberia ser un tema pero lamentablemente si hay ahi un problemita, bueno de la ergonomia igual es un tema personal.
