Amazing look behind the scenes of the biggest fantasy franchise
I've managed to get this book at half price during a sale and I don't regret a single penny. With the amount of content you get with this book you wouldn't expect it go for such a low price. This book is a magnum opus of the movie trilogy, containing high quality images, illustrations and interviews from everyone involved. It includes a lot of information both on the lore and the movie production. It's basically the making of documentary put to paper. It's printed on thick paper and bound in hard covers, making it really sturdy. The original price is a bit steep but I still think it's worth it (it goes on sale often enough so try to pick it up at a discount). That being said I honestly think that every fan of the movies should own it, couldn't recommend it more.

Beautifully illustrated and packed with behind the scenes interviews
As a fan of the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films, I loved this book. It essentially tells the story of how each of the films were filmed in their locations in New Zealand and some shooting in England. Lavishly illustrated with drawings, and photos, this huge heavy book is a must read for any fan of the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies. There's lots of interviews with the cast and crew, and you really get to feel what Middle Earth was like. Despite the books expensive price tag I would highly recommend this.

Lovely book. It's HUGE!
This is a really lovely book, absolutely packed with photographs. Quite stunning. Also it's massive! I have a couple of criticisms, that I think other people have mentioned, but I don't feel that they are sufficent to knock off a star. Firstly the book is absolutely huge and I do worry that the binding will give way after a few reads. The thread sewing the pages seems thin and not up to the job. I keep thinking I should read the book using one of those pillow things that are used in museums to protect the spine of the book from stress. Secondly, like another reviewer my copy was very poorly packed and was coming out of the cardboard packaging. It was so bad the Amazon delivery driver said he would wait while I checked the book for damage. Luckily it was fine. Thirdly, the price of this book fluctuates quite significantly. Today (Nov 2018) it is £60. But I have seen it on here for half that amount.

Great
I love my new book there is so much detail and lovely images and drawings not quite sure where I’m gonna store it as it is a lot bigger then what I thought and heavier then expected.

Stunning
Beautiful book. Full of wonderful images of Peter Jackson's adaptation of Tolkien's work. Huge, weighing some 5lbs so not the easiest to read but well worth the effort. Any fan of the trilogies will be delighted to own such a luxurious volume. £60 is steep so make the best of Amazons half price offer. A collectors item to be treasured.

AMAZING!
Wow! This isn't just a book, it's a TOME! Huge, well-bound, with heavy paper, amazing illustrations and wonderful text. This is an essential addition to the library of any fan of Tolkien's works (and, especially, Peter Jackson's cinematic adaptations).

brilliant book. Lots of new pictures and information on ...
brilliant book. Lots of new pictures and information on the LOTR & Hobbit trilogies. It even talks about the differences between the books and the films and why the differences were made (eg Tom Bombadill didn't move the story forward and detracted from the relentless pursuit of the Nine Black Riders). You might need weight training to lift the tome for long though !

But this is a must buy from LOTR fans the book is huge has some wonderful pictures. Makes a great coffee table read
Don't normally write reviews. But this is a must buy from LOTR fans the book is huge has some wonderful pictures. Makes a great coffee table read. For £30 it's a bargain even if you paid full price I doubt you'd be disappointed with it. Whatever you do don't drop it on your foot you would shatter it because it's so heavy

Along with John Howe's and Alan Lee's sketchbooks, this is the most awsum LOTR/Hobbit movies book I've seen. The older books for the LOTR trilogy "making of" books were superior to the slew that came out for the Hobbit trilogy (where I felt they were really milking it). So this one comes out and it's absolutely WOW. If you couldn't afford buying all the previous ones, you don't have to worry - this ones makes up for all of them. Only drawback IMO - there should be more full-page drawings/photos. Many of the photos feel too tiny. The binding job seems good - it's a big, heavy book, but the bindind seems sturdy and I think it will be good for years to come. Definitely the best document on the making off these films. Worth the money.

Incluye fotos inéditas y bocetos (aunque no muchas).
