Gone are the random papers and gadgets that used to surround my workspace; now I have a clean desk, and I can see the nice oak beneath my hands and around my keyboard and trackpad. One thing I needed, however, was a better way to connect my iPhone and iPod touch when syncing. I used to lay them flat on the desk and connect them to a lightning cable. But that’s annoying; since the cable connects at the bottom of the devices, I needed to turn them with the cable coming out toward me to be able to see notifications and texts on my iPhone, and that cable gets in the way. So I thought of getting a dock. I queried some friends, and asked on Twitter, and one of them recommended the Belkin Charge+Sync Dock for iPhone. One thing that was important was that the dock fit with the the iPhone and the case I have; an Evutec Karbon Sleek case in teak. The case is only 7mm thick, so I thought the dock should work. Well, it does. The dock fits with the case on the iPhone, and probably with a few mm to spare. It sets the iPhone at a good angle for viewing, and takes up little space. There’s not much that a dock does, other than connect to a computer, and let another device sit on it, but this one is fine. I don’t need a very long cable – as you can see above, it’s on my desk right in front of my Mac Pro – but the cable it comes with is 1.2 m (4 ft). The cable is permanently connected to the dock, so the only downside is that if you need a longer cable, you’ll have to get an extension, and if you want a shorter cable, you’ll have to use cable ties to wrap it up. But it holds the iPhone securely, as well as my iPod touch, and will even hold my iPad Air, but it’s delicate to set that device on the dock correctly. Given that may main need was a dock that can work with my case, this one fits the bill. If you need an iPhone dock, check this one out. Review: Must Have iPhone 5s Accessory - Great Product - small sleek design. Non-slip pad on the bottom prevents the dock moving / scratching on surfaces. Keeps the valuable iPhone safe from harm when flat on a desk or bedside table. long connector wire gives good range from your socket to the dock and it works in any USB plug adapter, not just the one which came with your iPhone. The connection is strong and clips into place keeping the iPhone firmly in place. It is also great for those who use FaceTime a lot. The angle of the phone is excellent for a hands free FaceTime dock. Top product! A must accessory. ## Features - Brand Name Belkin Mfg 722868945452 - Shipping Weight 040 lbs - Compatible with iPhone 5 iPod Touch 5th generation - Painted aluminum finish - Builtin lightning connector for handsfree charging ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Asin | B00AYNRLFA | | Best Sellers Rank | 101 in MP3 Player & Cell Phone Audio Docks 15,693 in Mobile Phone Chargers | | Colour | Silver | | Customer Reviews | 4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars (2,833) 4.1 out of 5 stars | | Date First Available | 1 Jan. 2012 | | Item Model Number | F8J045bt | | Item Weight | 100 g | | Other Display Features | Wireless | | Product Dimensions | 3.05 x 10.16 x 14.22 cm; 100 g | | Special Features | 4 foot hardwire USB cable, Compatible with iPhone 5, iPod touch (5th generation) and iPod nano (7th generation), Fits most phone cases, Painted aluminum finish, Uses your existing power supply | ## Images ![Lightning dock - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51TdzrmmNsL.jpg) ![Lightning dock - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/519lrLeAvWL.jpg) ![Lightning dock - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51GrVm4UnRL.jpg) ![Lightning dock - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/41xwklnBMiL.jpg) ![Lightning dock - Image 5](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61oD81YC5ML.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: can you use it with case on** A: I have a case on my iPhone 6s plus that was recommended by Apple, and the Belkin charger will not work. The lightning plug does not insert into the charging port on the phone. The case is to thick. Very unhappy about this. **Q: Do you know if this will work with an iphone 6 4.7inch and apples silicon case?** A: I'd say, yes. It works with my iPhone 6 Plus 5.5 inch with the Apple silicon case. It even works with my iPad Mini. So, yes. **Q: What is wattage of Belkin charge+sync dock for iPhone 5?** A: It depends on what you plug the usb into. It doesn’t come with it’s own plug. I use mine with a standard iPhone plug which is 5W but other adapters can be different wattage. **Q: Does it have a built in speakers ??** A: hi there are no speakers on itthanxfatema ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works fine with iPhone 5s and a slim case *by K***N on 12 August 2014* After I got my new Mac Pro, I decided to clean up my desk a bit. Reading other reviews there was a concern ... *by W***R on 2 October 2014* Very good product. Reading other reviews there was a concern it's not stable. I agree with other reviewers that it's a bit of a short cut to insert a lightning connector adapter onto the existing 30 pin socket, but it works absolutely fine. I used it with the larger iPhone 6 with an original Apple leather case and it fits perfectly and sits nicely on the adapter without feeling like it will fall off. There is room for a slightly larger case if needed. The dock was designed for iPhone 5/5s so the iPhone 6 is slightly bigger than the dock which is fine. I would recommend it, it's not perfect but it is much more than adequate, great looking as well. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://botswana.desertcart.com/products/48462868-lightning-dock](https://botswana.desertcart.com/products/48462868-lightning-dock) --- *Product available on Desertcart Botswana* *Store origin: BW* *Last updated: 2026-10-29*
