It really adds flavor to my vegan dishes.

Great to use to dust meat prior to cooking. Use in soups to add great umami flavor. Doesn't really add much thickening but might a little. A great "secret" recipe add for extra special tasting flavor.

It's a very fine powder. I bought it to make a mushroom bullion. The flavor isn't very powerful, though I am only comparing that to my expectation and not to other powders. That may just be how mushroom powders are. It is good and it dies have a mild umami flavor, but I haven't been able to coax a big mushroom flavor out of it.

This powder helps bring a umami robustness to the flavor of my soups, sauces and stews. Whenever I use it I get compliments on my concoctions. It has become my secret weapon.

I love this product. I use it in so many recipes, whether it is soups or stews or marinades or ramens or gravy. And I use it in an evening tea which is proving to be amazing in helping me to relax and fall asleep and feel so refreshed in the morning. Umami is the fifth flavor, and I now know why.

If you know umami, you know how absolutely amazing Umami is. If you don't know, it does not taste like mushrooms, that isn't what this is. Umami is a BURST of absolutely amazing SAVORY flavor that you just cannot explain. Any soup, doesn't matter. Any broth, it's just a magical flavor I am so absolutely excited I found. In the 5yrs since I've found this, every 10,20,30+ get together, holiday, whatever, EVERYONE wants to know if I'm bringing the "base".....

Absolutely disgusting. I have bought other shitake base umami seasoning that tasted great. This taste like something moldy and mildewy. It's not spoiled. The packaging and bottle seal were intact. The flavor is just horrible. Unfortunately not returnable.

I find I have to use more to make a difference in taste or flavor.
