Prob my favorite mortising bit.
These things are solid. My go to for regular lumber (wouldn’t use it for a slab)I use it in a CNC router and in my opinion it surpasses anything Whiteside has.I haven’t compared it to Amanas version. I’d imagine Amana stays sharper longer but these things are affordable and work perfectly.

Freud 16-106: 1-1/4” (Dia.) Spoilboard Surfacing & Mortising Bit - A Good Buy
I am a novice woodworker and trying to learn new techniques one of which was surfacing some lumber.. I was introduced to the value of good bits vs “3 for a Dollar “ ones at a workshop and why I purchased the Freud 16-106: 1-1/4” (Dia.) Spoilboard Surfacing & Mortising Bit… It is very well made as compared to others i looked at… Well balanced so was able to use my Ridgid 18v Router with no issues… It made very short work of my project so I’m looking for my next project so I can use it again… Very sharp with plenty of material for resharpening , no slipping in my 1/4” collet and the packaging is also a great storage space for it… Give it a try and you’ll be glad you did…

It's a Freud!
I've been a Diablo/Freud fan since my first Diablo saw blade. I was almost about to quit woodworking because my cuts on my table saw were terrible, had a Skil saw with Skil blades. It did the job but tearout was terrible. Tried to upgrade amount of teeth, got an Irwin blade, the blade itself developed Nasty Burn marks and left Burn marks on every cut. At this point I almost gave up. Then I opted to pay a bit more and try the powder coated Diablo blades. Every single cut was professional quality! I vowed to never buy any other brand other than Freud/Diablo! Everything from saw blades to even sandpaper never let me down! I just really really wish they made carbide band saw blades!!!! Seriously, the day you try it you will never go back. With this router bit, there is absolutely NO TEAR OUT NO MATTER HOW FAST YOU GO. Which you shouldn't rush a router bit cut but even if you for some reason do, you will be surprised! I was a little skeptical because of the angle, maybe it didn't cut 1/2" all the through the groove it it does! That slight angle cleanly slices through Walnut like its poplar! The shavings look like planer shavings! This thing is a monster!!! The pictures are after I cut (8) 16" x 1/2 deep grooves on walnut and not a carbide chip or paint chipping in sight! If you get the chance to get a Freud product, you'll never settle for less. The brown stuff is the walnut dust.

Works great; surfaced pine, pecan and maple flawlessly
Great value for large surfacing bit. Use this on CNC for boards too large for my planer. Very happy with results.

Very sharp. The channel cut is exactly 3/4". Well made.
Well made, very sharp. Makes a clean channel and crisp trim cuts. It even has a protective plastic storage box so it won't bang around the tool draw.
