It was fun while it lasted

I loved everything about this radio. The internal battery, the size, all modes. I worked the world with it. Then it died. It just plain died and there is no support. Bummer

I wanted to love the radio but I did love the service.

I contacted them to see if they expected to receive fresh stock on a radio I wanted. They replied by confirming some details and shipped the radio despite it being out of stock in most place I could find it. It tested fine but had new firmware. I damaged a component doing the firmware upgrade and Radioddity helped me locate a replacement as they had no access to the specific part. After repairs and upgrades, the radio no longer transmitted as tested. I contacted Radioddity for assistance and they were once again very helpful but the radio was still not working.Radioddity shipped a replacement that was up to date on firmware and the latest hardware version. This was at no cost (neither shipping nor restocking, etc.) to me and within a week of asking for help after repairing a component that I damaged. Unfortunately, the replacement exhibited the same behavior. Radioddity refunded the money and I returned the radio. The radio seemed too good to be true and it was so even though I am disappointed in the radio, I couldn't be more pleased with Radioddity. I will definitely buy from them again in the anticipation that the other more mainstream products are more likely to do what is says on the box.

Most cost effective SDR transceiver on the market.

This is the brand name version of the Q900 SDR. It makes for one of the most interesting ham radios on the market. Because it is GPS disciplined it also makes for one of the best receivers amongst the Ham SDR transceivers. It can do way more than you can probably ask of it. I use this and my Icom IC-7100 for most of my emergency operations preparedness kits for our county Ops Center. I use this one mostly for digital HF comms because it makes it so easy. I’ve recently started using it for portable operations. It has a built in battery and tuner so all you need is a wire antenna. I use an end fed half wave multi-band antenna that fits in this tiny kit. When I wanna crank a full 20 Watts on HF, I use a small 6Ah LiFePo4 battery. If you want to enjoy this radio, you just have to spend some time getting to know it. Use the Bluetooth app to control it - its amazing - makes it way easier. It does so much stuff that it’s going to be overwhelming to most users. Just update the firmware when you first get it and have a little patience and enjoy the heck outta this tiny radio.
