I was at first reluctant to use a third-party toner cartridge in my Brother HL-2170W printer, but decided to give it a try. After all, the options I was faced with were to replace out the printer because the Brother OEM cartridge was so expensive or to buy the Brother cartridge. I've replaced the cartridge once before with the Brother product but just didn't want to spring for another $46 for the part when a new printer costs $110. Plus my printer is printing fine. So for $10 I bought this product. With Amazon Prime -- fast and no shipping cost, it was here in a day (beating the 2-day promised delivery time). Packaged well, in a box and bubble wrapped and in another shipping box. Looked fine when unpacking. Put it in, fit perfectly. And started printing. The only "glitch" i ran into was that when printing the little triangular yellow printer icon and printer status still showed the "replace toner" warning. I pulled the plug on the printer, let it sit for half a minute, and replugged it in. The warning icon disappeared. This is not a fault of the cartridge, as I remember that the previous OEM cartridge needed the printer reset also. I'm running an iMac with Mavericks by the way. I'm very pleased with the product and have become an Amazon super-shopper for their selection of products, speedy delivery, value and return policies. Over the years, they have earned my trust and business.November 27, 2013 Update: All is working fine, but still noticed that little yellow triangle with the exclamation symbol on the printer icon in the dock when it printed. Also when I checked the printer through Apple's System Preferences, Printers and Scanners, Highlighting the printer on the left and clicking on Open Print Queue, and saw a notice that my toner level was low. So, I turned the printer off, then deleted the printer in Printers and Scanners, then turned the printer back on and the message, and the little yellow triangle, all disappeared. A quirk of the software, I think, and not the cartridge. It continues to print out like the new Brother one that cost over four times with clear prints every time. 5-star rating maintained.

I bought these verses NEW from Brother. I looked at different versions of other 'compatible' toner cartridges, and thought from the reviews of all of them that 'this one' was the best. I installed it (on the drum unit that the previous cartridge was on) and it works GREAT! They even came in this funky bubble-wrap like protective covering (within the product box, within the packaging) , so it was in PERFECT condition! I bought 2 of these for HALF the price of a 'Brother' one! I'm going to buy 2 more to stock up! I could NOT be happier with this product, and couldn't recommend it more. If you're going to buy a 'compatible' cartage, BUY THIS ONE!On a separate note, I'm even happier because of another review I read pertaining to these (this type of) toner cartridges. A review I read when I was looking for a replacement cartridge said that if you covered the little hole (surrounded by clear plastic on the factory original) on the right side (if the front is facing away from you) of the cartridge, you'd be able to use it until it was truly empty. Well, after the printer stopped working because the toner was 'empty', I took the cartridge out, covered the hole with electrical tape (recommended in the review I read), and put it back in. I GOT OVER 500 MORE PAGES OUT OF THE CARTRIDGE (might have been closer to 300 if they had been pages completely full of type). If you want to get ALL the life out of your toner cartridge, I'd suggest trying this! I didn't even wait until the new one will be empty...I covered the hole before I even put this one in.

I don't know with 100% certainty the toner cartridge is new and not "refurbished," but it was sealed up tight, clean, and looked brand new to me. Most importantly, it swapped-in easily and perfectly and the first two pages I printed looked fantastic with no streaking. Best of all, I only paid $10.77. I'll be purchasing more to have on hand. The toner cartridge was for my Brother HL-2140 B&W printer. Helpful Hint: I forgot that the toner cartridge actually clips into the top of the drum unit. At first I was looking at the (smaller) replacement unit I just bought and I thought I ordered the wrong size. LOL! On the HL-2140, you unclip the old toner and then clip in the new one, and THEN the whole thing goes back into the printer. That shows you how often I change the thing. I'll edit my review if I find that the cartridge causes issues or doesn't last very long but I don't think that'll be the case.

Simple to install. Fit perfectly. Results indistinguishable from a Brother branded cartridge. I could not be more pleased with this money-saving product. Thank you.Update: when I try to reuse the opposite side of already printed sheets, sometimes the printer does not pick up the sheet from the paper tray. Some shape of the toner cartridge must be slightly different than the Brother version. This is not a huge problem but there is some hidden cost in that I cannot reuse paper easily and must use a new sheet of paper. Another minor annoyance is that when you go to print, the software says Low Toner even though there is obviously sufficient toner, but that does not affect the actual printing. I imagine it will be difficult to determine when the toner is actually indeed low because of the ever-present false message.

The toner cartridge is not very appropriate. It makes dark copy et very dark picture at the point that we couldn't see the detail in the picture. All is dark. we not recommand to buy this kind of toner.

Working like original or better. I print 5-10 pages a day and I do not remember when was last time I replaced it. Lasts long time.

looks good so far but can not tell how much toner there is inside , so I can not truly give this a rating until after a few monyhs use..

Started 'leaking' after about 200 pages, carbon streaks on paper and dust in printer.

Awesome product for the great price. It lasted me for about a year and I would no doubt get another one.
