Birds approve!
This is an update to my initial review of this Kingsyard feeder. I REALLY like this feeder and now have two. I keep the cover low on one so the smaller birds can eat in peace - well, except for fighting sparrows - and the other feeder is set for the bigger birds. Much better for all. It has proved to be a sturdy feeder, the adjustment knob is quick and easy to change/set and stays put . The cover moves easily up out of the way to make refilling the feeder a snap. As fast as my little vultures gobble up seed, that’s an important plus! The feeder is easy to clean and the birds flock to it. My initial concerns about the rain running off the cover have been answered - the seed stays quite dry unless there is a lot of wind. The feeder is heavy enough with the metal base that it has not flown off the hook like a previous beloved feeder. Plus it’s quite nice looking. 5 stars.I had reservations about this feeder when I ordered it. It replaces an excellent, years-old and much-loved deep-dome feeder that was tossed across a paver patio in a windstorm. Alas, a sad end and no longer available. I haven’t had this Kingsyard feeder long enough yet to determine its sturdiness.I took a star away because the dome could be a bit wider in circumference to better protect the seed during rain storms, but the dome’s slope does help the rain run off to some degree. The height-adjusting mechanism is a bit bulky but works ok so far and has stayed in place even with heavy traffic at the feeder. The seed tray is metal which is nice for strength and the birds don’t seem to mind. I haven’t yet checked to see if it heats up on really hot days. The weight adds to the feeder’s ability not to tip when a large woodpecker drops in to dine. He is able to hang onto the side of the tray quite easily and have a snack without it tipping too much.Lots of birds come to my feeders and they go through seed quite rapidly. I do wish the feed tray was a bit deeper so I wouldn’t have to refill it so often. The birds accepted the new feeder right away which was good. A line of waiting birds at the feeder means it gets their stamp of approval.

No complaints
I've had this feeder for almost two years now, and it is sturdy and attractive. The dome is adjustable and keeps the seed dry as long as the rain is coming straight down; you could lower the dome further to adjust somewhat for that. Speaking of lowering the dome, if you wanted to keep starlings out, it doesn't work. They will figure it out. But because I often feed mealworms in this feeder for the Bluebirds, I console myself with the fact that the starlings don't completely finish off what is in the feeder. They do leave some, so everyone is mostly happy (me least of all haha). Others have complained of the tray coming unscrewed and falling off, which has happened to me on once, but I just chalk that up to the nature of the design. If you make sure it's tight, it should hold until the next time you fill. If you're leaving it alone for too long, it's bound to come loose, what with all the bird activity; it's really just a matter of staying on top of it. I wouldn't call it a design flaw at all. The best part about this feeder is the metal tray which ensures it doesn't crack when you screw the post in. This was a serious design flaw with the WBU feeder similar to this one and is why that company discontinued it. The Kingsyard feeder is a much better product. Highly recommend (I am buying two more!).

Great all-around bird feeder
I own two of these feeders and have been pleased overall. They look nice and work well with all types of feed. Birds of all sizes seem to love them and can perch easily. The cover does not make them rain-proof but does provide some protection in misting conditions. It would be a five star product, but there have been multiple instances where I had to screw the bottom tray back on (once it had fallen to the yard). A more secure mechanism is needed!

Nicely constructed
I really like almost everything about it. It was very easy to assemble and I appreciate the adjustable distance of the dome. It was a bit smaller than I anticipated. Having said that, I get the same cohort of birds as usual. I would definitely recommend.

sturdy, metal, round tray feeder with weather shield
This is similar to another feeder I had for several years that was ruined by a bear last year. So happy to find this same style feeder since the other company stopped making this.Sturdy metal tray with an ample weather shield to protect from the elements. A great feeder as you can lower the weather shield top to keep the bigger birds out. I use this for dried mealworms, suet nuggets and a sunflower(no shells) mixture. The bluebirds, gold finch, pine siskins and chickadees love it!

STURDY!
I used to have a similarly designed feeder made of plastic, it lasted a couple years but the bottom finally broke when it landed on the ground one time too many. I tried to replace it and couldn't find another made as well as that, wound up getting a cheap version made with cheap plastic. Squirrels dumped it and after a few months the bottom of it broke, so I replaced it with the same one since I couldn't find anything sturdier, that one broke after only a couple of weeks. This one is not going to break, it's sturdy metal and even the plastic dome is made of a much sturdier plastic, and spins as well, making it more difficult for the squirrels to get into it in the first place. Oh and the drainage holes are great as well, we just had a little over 2 inches of rain dumped on us yesterday, and the seed was wet from the rain coming in the side, but it drained right through instead of pooling in it. LOVE this feeder.

Sturdy, easy to assemble
I like the adjustability of the dome to limit the size of birds that can get to the tray.

Best bird feeder ever.
This bird feeder is perfect for feeding our cardinals and black capped chickadees .The strong plastic bowl is deep enough to keep the seeds from spilling out on the ground and the clear plastic umbrella-like dome is excellent .It keeps the rain out and the seeds dry. The little chickadees get right into the dish but the cardinals can sit on the rim and reach the seeds .The height of the umbrella-like dome is adjustable so you can lower or raise to suit the size of birds you're interested in attracting. The plastic dome is rigid plastic and see through. Just wipe water drops off with paper towels .The circumference of the bowl and the plastic dome are the same so it's a perfect fit. I'm thinking about getting a second one.

Best yet
These are very good bird feeders, l now have two and in the winter I will buy another. The birds love them as I shop as the nut into small pieces and the rest off the food get broken down so the birds can get as much as they need.

Birds love it, squirrels seem to be ignoring it
I have this hanging from a bird feeder pole in my yard, and it’s been up for about 6 weeks now. It’s intended for any bird that’s interested, and I wasn't looking for squirrel prevention as much as weather protection. This has kept the seed from being buried in snow or crusted with ice from freezing rain. At the widest setting it has so far accommodated every bird that has tried to land on it. The crows haven’t tried, and might be too big, but the cardinals and blue jays have no trouble. Even the much less manoeuvrable mourning doves can land on it without banging their heads. The feeder is remarkably stable, and doesn’t swing much under normal conditions. It also seems pretty durable so far. We’ve had two *really* windy nights since I installed it (wind warnings issued), and I found it on the ground those mornings. The second time, the post was bent slightly near the base. It hasn’t affected the function at all, the birds don’t care, and only my OCD notices that it’s crooked. I have since added a garden tie to turn the hook into a loop and prevent it swinging off in a strong wind, and it’s worked very well - we haven’t had a wind warning since.I haven’t seen squirrels on it, but I also haven’t seen them try. Just that is an improvement over the previous basic tray feeder I had there, though. I have a baffle on the pole that they can’t get past for a ground approach, but they can get to the top of the pole from a tree. I suspect that a very determined and acrobatic squirrel could get across from the pole to the feeder after that with some trial and error, but so far they’re raiding a more accessible feeder and ignoring this one. With the previous tray they could just drop down onto it. I can now put peanuts out for the blue jays without squirrels stealing them! (I’ll update the review if I catch the bratty little tree rats on this one.)Noted problems: Make sure the base is securely screwed on every time you fill it. It has fallen off once, and I have no idea how it came loose (although two ground impacts may have contributed). Take it down if a wind warning is issued, or make sure it *can’t* come off whatever it’s hanging from. It may be durable, but I doubt that it’s entirely unbreakable. Ice buildup affects the spinning function (still spins, but not freely), but bringing it indoors to thaw fixed that.Over all, I’m quite happy with this feeder.

Ideal - good design
Just what I wanted. The plastic dome is bigger than the base which means that the pigeons have yet to work out how to access the food. The small birds are quite happy to use it. A carefully thought out design.

works well however part was missing
the feeder works well ,good size however the adjustment screw for the bell was missing. I managed to find a machine screw that worked but the screw was essential to keeping the bell up. Better quality control is needed.
