At first I thought this typewriter was damaged or poor quality. Letters typed at different heights, the spacing between lines was always changing and sometimes writing at a slant… and then I reread the instructions. I played with the settings until I got them how I wanted them.It turned out the product was fine. The problem was me. I thought since I was so good at typing on a keyboard that using a typewriter would just be a modest effort to transition. I was wrong and accept that lol. Typewriting is a skill. So, read the manual, read about the parts and just practice. Once you get the hang of it, it’s super fun!

My typewriter arrived with someone else’s typed paper and it scratches on the super cute colored body. And it smells like WD-40. I didn’t test it out right away so ot sat in the box for a few weeks. Hopefully I can get an exchange because it’s super cute.

Stylish, good build quality overall. However, two keys have duplicate symbols (, and ;). Perhaps it could have been used for something useful?The reel holders are a bit flimsy and may break with time. A bottom plate would be nice too, even if it was acrylic. The exposed bits can get tangled.The carriage return handle is a bit loose and scuffs the finish everytime.

The media could not be loaded. Came in 3 days w/ prime . Great color varieties. Works great . Perfect for writing my first book. Can be used also as a gift idea you know people are finding out that I am writing three books total I am going to have them printed up and give them to each of my sons and it'll be their story you know things happen throughout their life when they were born maybe some ideas about their mom and dad and their history so I'm just super excited to get my ideas on paper and I don't have to depend on charging or plugging up you know this is just great 😃

This is a superficially nice looking typewriter lacking key features of old typewriters and not up to par with vintage typewriters. This model is made out of a lot of plastic, including many parts that are traditionally made out of metal. Also, this model does not come with a case, nor a carriage lock lever, both of which are essential. I received this as a gift for Christmas and it arrived defective. My sister also bought a model (a pink version of this) which was also defective.I wrote a review on 2/13/17 and duplicated it on my typewriter that I received for Christmas (which was defective)I received this typewriter as a gift for Christmas this year. there are several things that are problematic, the most obvious is that it skips spaces. the manner in which this one is skipping spaces is due to broken teeth on the carriage which makes it skip in the same spot on every line.I understand a mechanical device like this is complex, but there are other things I don't like about this typewriter.First, compared to many old typewriters, there are many parts on this that are made out of plastic rather than metal which make it feel rather cheaply made.The other issue I have is it doesn't have a carriage lock lever. You use this for when it is not in use. Every other typewriter I own has this lever.Also, this typewriter doesn't have a case. The only way to store it is in the original cardboard box it came in. There are other NEW mechanical typewriters you can buy that have both of these features. I would suggest a vintage typewriter instead of this one.---------------------I emailed the company about the defect in mine (which will likely require a replacement since broken carriage teeth are a major problem and not easily fixed). I will update my review when I hear back from American Crafts.

I meant to buy a different typewriter but it looks just like this one. I realized my mistake when i received what essentially amounts to a semi-functional ornamental typewriter. It's very physically taxing to use, it's too cheaply made for its price, it came with a bunch of pieces falling out, and i have no idea why I didn't just look at the name of the thing I ordered before I waited half a month for a plastic box of disappointment, which by the way, came without a case, meaning I can take it all of 0 places without sticking it in the ugly cardboard box and lugging it around hoping it doesn't break if a feather lands on it.

Impressive and beautiful! I was worried due to some of the reviews being so low. However, it is a great piece and functions similar to a vintage typewriter. We LOVE it! I will use it for journaling and my teen is using it for writing stories. It has a beautiful font and provides an attractive written body of work. I had forgotten how lovely typeset literature looks. It is truly wonderful to have and adds to the decor of my office. Lovely!

The C key taps oddly. The hand lever return stops dome times. Big issue was the ribbon stopped. I found this tiny curled wire stuck on ribbon. It ripped the ribbon. Will be calling CS if this is a necessary part or some sort trash got inside. My hands are arthritic and really wanted a typer long time. Disappointed.
