Does it work well for Polystyrene plastic models?

Zap-A-Gap is basically a high quality, medium viscosity super glue. I never had much luck using for models back in my youth but it’s not out of the question. I still like Testers better for building models.

Is this glue safe for use on foam?

I would not use it on styrofoam or sponge foam. It dries very hard and will not bend. It is my "go to" glue for joining any solid items.

It does dry clear and I use it ALLLLLLL the time. I love this stuff. You'll never buy super glue again

Was this the super glue used on the mythbusters episode "super adhesive heroics"? Their website claims it was but i cant find anything to verify

I can't find any further verification either, however, I wouldn't be surprised if it were true. This is awesome stuff. It is thicker than standard 'super glue' (although they make a gel now as well) so it is easy to put it where you want it and noplace else. As far as strength is concerned, all Cyanoacrylate adhesives should be reasonably similar.
