Good Quality, Works Great, Well Made! FANTASTIC TOOL
FANTASTIC TOOL.... I needed a new flaring tool as my old one gave up on me and broke in the middle of a job of course, so i ordered this one quick from Amazon as i could have it quick enough to finish the job, local stores want crazy money for an eccentric flaring tool, i'm talking $200-300 for what looks like the exact same tool in a different color at my local home improvement stores, so i was skeptical that a $50 tool could do the job as well as them but my old one i have had for 20 years was in pieces so it was time to try a new one. Man this thing delivers! It looks like a very well made tool, and it is. The fit and finish on all the parts is nice, it slides together and works perfectly like it should, and it looks good doing it. This thing made a perfect flare on the very first try and every one after it looked just as good. Having used these type of flaring tools before the real trick to them is getting the stickout right, and this one has a little sliding stop gauge to take all the guesswork out of it, with my old one i knew roughly where you had to set the pipe end to get a good finish on the flare and be the right cone depth, this one does it for you, slide the stop over the size hole you are going to use, slide in the line until it touches, and then slide over and tighten the side screw and flare it, its so quick and easy with this thing a child could make perfect flares in seconds. Tips for good flares... debur! If you don't have a deburring tool get one, just deburring the end of the cut pipe makes a huge difference on getting a nice clean accurate flare because tubing cutters slightly roll in the end at the cut, you need to cut that back with a deburring tool. When you tighten down the tool making the flare go until the clutch mechanism disengages and spin it three additional times, it will click on each rotation, the clutch sets the final depth, the additional three turns allows the cone to burnish the copper surface and make it as smooth as possible for a good seal. Use a little refrigerant oil or Nylog on the cone of the flaring tool to lubricate it, this helps further smooth the final finish if you put a little drop on the cone before each use. I hope to get some years out of this one, but at this price, even a dozen installs and its paid for itself many times over and i can afford to replace it. That makes it a good value for the money! Some final words.... This is an eccentric flaring tool, i have seen reviews on these saying that the cone wasn't centered and they thought it was defective... Thats how they work, its literally in the name, eccentric.... The cone rotates in an eccentric path like a cam lobe to slowly push and stretch the copper outward to form the final shape. No storage case? Who cares... I put this in my packout case with all my HVAC gear, a storage case for it would just add bulk and weight i don't need, why are some people so nit picky, this is a $50 tool that replaces brand name ones going for $200-300!!

Great flaring tool
This flaring tool works great for making perfect flares on copper tubing. It it sturdy and well built. The price is reasonable, and the eccentric forcing cone makes very nice, perfect flares on copper tubing. I have not used it on aluminum yet. I have used it on 1/4 and 3/8 . The flares were the perfect size and the clutch mechanism ensures you do not over crush the flare. The copper. insertion depth limiter ensures consistent insertion and the correct flare size without splitting the tube or making the flare too small. My previous flaring tool also would come completely apart. The clamp piece was separate from the top piece with the forcing cone. This one stays together as one assembly, but is easy to use. The indents and alignment marks make for proper alignment for flaring the tube. I highly recommend it.

Best flair tool I have ever used, perfect every time

Good tool with one issue
Makes great flares. Only concern is the clamping bolt is pointed steel and the body of the tool is aluminum. The steel damages the aluminum slowly with each use. But, itโs still working and makes great flares.

Great tool. I needed this for my DIY mini split install.
This flaring tool has a nice sturdy weight and all parts move easily. There is a sliding depth gauge so no need to guess as to the 1/16 inch to 1/8 inch end protrusion sticking out as recommended for flaring. There are stops to prevent the eccentric cone section from accidentally sliding off the rails and hitting the floor which would mar the cone. Nice safety measure. I inspected the cone with my helmet lens at 5.25 magnification and there were two micro dings over half way up on the cone. They arenโt visible to the naked eye. I really donโt think they were anywhere near the flaring area and they were very small. There were no imperfections seen after inspecting my practice flares. The piece of left over copper pipe left in the tool noted by one reviewer seems to be a feature and not an indication of a used tool. Mine also had one as well so I guess they use it as a demo or quality control to make sure the tool is performing well. The tool does not come with a case but you can also easily unscrew the position holder handle to get it to fit back into the box for safe storage. I seriously donโt think the Hilmor costing over twice the price can be twice the tool. This is a good product.

Works great
I decided to shorten the lines on my mini split installation, this tool was easy to use and it made a superb quality flare. It ie eccentric so it makes a better flare than a straight cone tool and it has a clutch mechanism so you cant overtighten . Good quality, would recommend.

Doesn't not have carrying bag and not good quality. For this much money not enough quality.
It does not come with carrying bag. Not recommended, because on picture looks good quality but un believable it does not have carrying bag.

Works well.
I did 3/8 and 5/8 copper tubing and only had one of the 5/8 fittings that was under 10 PSI propane pressure to re-do. All the others I did were gas tight first time. Very easy to use. Who ever the guy was that said it doesnโt hold the pipe right is nuts, it holds it perfect wile turning the flare. And yes it comes with a little end of copper tubing still in the unit from factory testing.

Easy to use.
I was skeptical of this tool but I am very happy with it. I'm an HVAC mechanic and use it quite a bit From hooking up ductless splits to gas cooper lines when need be. It has not failed me yet. My apprentice loves and it he has a rigid style on very similar but not as efficient and trust worthy. Great tool for a great price.
