what is the washing temp?

Machine wash the pads on a Warm temp, tumble dry in low temperature and you are ready to go, thats easy! They can withstand up to 500 washes keeping their absorbency and softness as the first day. Plus, you are reducing waste by not using the disposable alternatives.

Does the plastic side make any noises that can interrupt sleep when the person moves?

It doesn't have a any plastic. The blue side goes down, the green side goes up (just like grass, green goes up). It's soft under your skin. It doesn't make noise. It does move around if you move in your sleep. It doesn't leak if the puddle is towards the center. We haven't had any puddles near the edge, so I can't attest to that.
