Worth every penny. There is no issue with this product
I needed to clone a set of radios that nobody at work knew the tones or frequencies. In 15 minutes I was able to accurately reproduce all frequencies and digital tones and was then able to program a group of radios in no time. It paid for itself on it's very first use. The tones were exact. The frequencies were very close. But knowing how radio frequencies are allocated I was able to adjust the stated frequencies to the closest allocated frequency and completed the task without problem. This was a perfect choice. If I never have a need for it again I will still be very happy with this purchase.

Great scanner
This little scanner kicks some serious but! It is very easy to use overall. The display is nice and bright and easy to to read. It will lock on and display the CTCSS within a second. Its ability to decode both analog and digital is very handy. Was able to read radios that had been useless because their freq and CTCSS was unknown. Now, they are working perfectly with other radios that I programmed to match. Having a built-in rechargeable battery is better than having a compartment to hold dead AA batteries. Even if you forget to charge the scanner, you can use a micro USB power supply in a pinch. After decoding unknown radios for a friend, he immediately bought one for himself. I would recommend this scanner to anyone who is thinking of adding a scanner to their tool kit.

Works well for handheld radios.
Works as expected, but not very sensitive. Must move very close to the transmitter antenna fir a reading.

Works as advertised
Quickly find out what frequency and side tones your radio is transmitting on.

it picks up a wifi signal before a radio signal
This would be an excellent item if you can set a frequency range for scanning. We had a problem trying to use this with hand held radios. The device would pick up the building wifi signal instantly. We finally found a spot to avoid the wifi, but the device did not display correct captured frequency each time.

Had one before and re-purchased!
I purchased this becaus the last one, the same one, I somehow misplaced, lost whatever. It works great and I have never had any issues. If someone was to ask me, I would have no problems recommending.

Run from this thing
I bought this in hopes that it would pick up RF frequencies from a distance, to replace my broken Optoelectronics Scout that did a fabulous job. This thing barely works, even with a good antenna. It will read a walkie talkie from a foot or so away, but thats it.

Very Accurate, easy to use Handheld frequency counter
During the last hurricane response there were two agencies arguing on what frequency they were transmitting on. Without a laptop to read their radios I was able to tell each one what frequency they were transmitting on with this little handheld. For the price this frequency counter is amazing. I have deployed to three disasters and I keep this in my go back because it always comes in handy. It tough, and seen a little abuse due to the weather but it keeps on working. Highly recommend this little hand held. I keep it in a small plastic case brought separately for travel purpose.

A great bit of test gear for a great price.
The Surecom SF401 is an interesting device and great for basic testing field of radio communication equipment. It's a hand held frequency counter with CTCSS and DCS decoding and can handle analog and digital (DMR) radio systems. When held around 18" away from a transmitters antenna, the device will display the transmission frequency to a precision of 3 or 4 (programmable) decimal places. Although not as accurate as a lab frequency counter, it is perfect for field testing and checking the frequency and CTCSS tone of unknown transmitters. The only minor drawback of this product is the plastic case which would be much better if it was metal. (Review price £31.42)

Great unit, great price.
Works great and as advertised. Use it for verification of walkie talkie radios. You do need to be right beside the unit to get a reading, but also has a “strength” meter to measure some kind of transmission.
