Quiet, powerful, reliable
I replaced a Tsurumi 1/2 hp pump with this Tsurumi 1 hp pump. It has performed beautifully and reliably as it is on 24/7 hours a day. The output is noticeably improved, providing our waterfall with extra water for enhanced beauty. I am very pleased with this pump and would highly recommend it to anyone needing a quality, rugged high output landscaping water pump.

Spendy, but hopefully worth it.
Arrived in a timely manner, arrived in great shape, very easy to install, works great so far. My other pump was the same brand, but it was about 800 gallons an hour less, and it was 1/2 hp, it lasted eleven yrs. I like the product and hope this one does as well. PS. it was on 90% of the time year round for those eleven years.

I purchased this to replace the old version which was 4-5 years old in a small pond where it powered a waterfall. It has ample power and is quiet. I never downloaded the owners manual until the old pump stopped. I realize now that there is an oil fill which must checked and that the pump should be rebuilt every few years. So be certain to download the manual and read it.

Were Great now Junk
The first Tsurumi 8PN I had installed ran perfectly for over 10 years. This was a great pump and I don't recall it ever shutting down due to the overheat circuit. After replacing that pump I have had three more and none has lasted for more than 2 years, I am now on my fourth pump. The failures all appear to be shorting in the winding of the pump motor. There has never been any indication of seized impellers, shafts, or bearings, they all spin freely with a flick of the finger. All of the pumps that have failed seem to shut down frequently due to the overheat circuit even when the water temps are in the 40F range! When they shut down there is no indication that the pump is hot to the touch anywhere on the outside. They can run for a week straight in 80F water, and then shut down three times an hour when the water is 40F. My application has not changed even a tiny bit, same pond, same electrical circuit, same head, same filtration system,.... I can only assume that the overheat circuit is crap and leads to premature shorting of the internal wiring of the pump. The new one was installed on Friday and it was shut down this morning after being on for less than 5 minutes in 50F water. I will not buy another Tsurumi, will find another pump that has same size to fit my application. This is one of the most expensive pumps on the market, was worth every penny 15 years ago when they would last, now they are a bad investment.

and at a better price than all of the much inferior pumps that ...
Oh WOW!A real life saver for my koi and gold fish in my pond. My submersible pump in my pond just quit pumping after working non-stop day and night 24/7 for the last 15+ years. I took it to the pump repair shop, "Nope it can't be fixed." "You'll need to buy a new one." The local pump store did not have anything close to what I had and wanted to replace my trusty old pump. I pulled out my iPhone and typed in "VANCS" and up popped Amazon.com with a photo of the exact pump that I was looking for, and at a better price than all of the much inferior pumps that I had just been looking at at the local pump store. Two clicks later on my iPhone and I was informed that I would have my pump in just two days, AND ZERO $$ for shipping. Oh good lord it just dose not get any better. The water is again flowing in my beautiful pond and the fish and turtles are so happy. Thank you so much for the wonderfully fast and efficient service you are truly a life saver.

Very powerful and quiet
I ordered this as a replacement for a pump that failed after 12 years of continuous use. I was surprised that it is an exact replacement for the old one even though the name is different. This made it very easy to swap out for the old one. The pump appears to be very well made. It is very quiet, which is nice. It moves much more water than the old pump even though it is the same. Hopefully it will last as long as the old one did. The price I bought it for here was over $100 less than anywhere else I looked, so even though it is still expensive, I feel like I got a good deal.

Tsurumi VANCS 8PN 1 H.P.
I bought this pump as a backup for my existing Tsurumi VANCS 8PN 1 H.P. Pump. I installed my existing pump in May of 2011. When I replaced my previous (not sure of brand) pump that had lasted 5 years I needed real fast as we were in between trips, so I went to my local pond supply store and was hoping for an exact replacement and this Tsurumi VANCS 8PN 1 H.P. Fit the bill.Installed Tsurumi VANCS 8PN 1 H.P. Pump and I noticed that it seemed to give a much better flow rate then my original pump and was very pleased. Now for the reason for the backup pump. Once in a great while my existing pump will shut down for almost exactly four minutes and then resets its self. My pump runs 24/7 for about 9 months of the year and I never pull the pump out in the winter (Chicago winters) so this may explain the shut off restart problem. I am quite impressed with Tsurumi VANCS 8PN 1 H.P. Pump and I really hope that I do not need to install this backup pump but it is there if I need it.I guess that I should also mention that when purchasing this pump thru Amazon it is now around $250.00 less costly than if purchased from a name brand pond supply store and Amazon as always had great delivery.
