amazingly effective, safe and easy to use
I've used this saw for several hours which is sufficient to give me an opinion as to its effectiveness and value. It's easy to set up, just use the wingnut clamp to secure it to the pole and off you go, no tools required. It stays put as does the extention of the pole. One easy to use clip on the pole allows you to move the extention in or out and lock it. It stays locked. Use it off the pole to trim off limbs from felled trees or easy to reach stuff. I've found many uses for the saw without the pole that makes to yard work go easy. It's safer than a gas chain saw and lighter. It is durable, it hasn't failed me. I maintain my machines and keep them ready to work, but I don't baby this saw or any piece of machinery. This saw does what it's supposed to without complaint. I pinched the chain in a limb (operator error!) and had to free it with another saw, but the Remington went right back to working without throwing a chain, bending, or breaking. Anyway you ...slice... it, using a chain saw to cut trees is tough on machinery. This saw has chewed through pine, oak, and cherry quickly and easily. When it's at full extention it's a little unwieldy because, afterall, you have a weight on one end of a pole and it will tend to be top heavy. But it is light enough to manuver and keep where you want it to cut and I haven't found its balance to be a problem. It does leak chain oil. In the yard, who cares? In the garage, it can be messy. But also tells you in the manual that it will leak the chain oil and recommends that you empty the oil resevoir when you store the saw. It holds about 3 ounces of motor oil and draining the oil is a ten second operation. Not a problem. When in use, one push of the oiler cap before eash cut and it's happy. It has an aggressive chain tooth layout which helps to slice through even big limbs. It's a ten inch saw, if you need to cut 14+ inch limbs/trees, you'll need a heavier chainsaw that's designed for that purpose. If you use this saw for its designed use, you won't have any difficulty pruning or taking off fairly meaty limbs from a safe position. I recommend it.

Great tool!
I received my Remington Pole Saw two days ago based on the larger number of five star reviews. I understand the frustration by those who gave the item a poor rating based on their reviews. I, on the other hand, used mine for the first time this morning. First chain saw I have ever owned so I took my time reading through the owners manual two or three times. To read this manual is imperative. I would definitely say read and follow ALL safety instructions. Without reading these instructions, a person can be severely injured. With respect to using this machine -- I would agree that with the pole extended -- it is a little difficult to handle due to the weight of the chainsaw on the other end. It was heavy for me to handle so I initially rested the chain saw on the limb I wanted to cut until I was able to brace myself with my feet at which time I pulled the saw back off the limb, got the saw up to full speed (as recommended in the user manual) before contacting the limb to make the cut. This worked well for me. The saw worked flawlessly for me so far. My job was not a large one so I can't say how it would work if it was to be used for hours. My job was to cut oak tree limbs back off my house. I was done in about 30 minutes. I used 40 weight Castrol oil as recommended for temperatures above 75 degrees. Made sure to oil the chain frequently in order to not get the chain too hot. Would like to hear from anyone as to how often and how much the chain should be oiled. The owner's manual states to oil before every cut on the larger limbs(two inches and above). I estimate that it would have costs me at least $100 to have this done by a professional so I figure I already got my money back. Everything going forward will be freebies. I didn't have any oil issues as stated in some reviews. I did pour the oil that was over back into my oil container for next time as stated in the owners manual. I don't recommend this machine for really heavy jobs, but for small jobs of keeping limbs off your house -- I would highly recommend this machine. I figure if I have to throw this one away after another one or two uses -- I will have gotten my money's worth, but I think this machine will work well for me for quite some time to come since I will probably only use it once or twice a year for light limb trimming. As a final thought I would say to try to do a reasonably good job of cleaning your chain saw up, particularly if you're going to set it up for a while before using it again. This will be important in keeping it in good running condition. Lastly, be very careful to keep your extension cord clear of your cutting area. It would be very easy to cut through a limb possibly with the extension cord very near your cutting area. Any helpful comments to this review will be welcomed.

Solid Product
I bought this through Amazon LLC. seller, and while the initial shipment was defective - the drive socket locked up and the chain wouldn't turn after 1 hour of use - Amazon was so awesome and they sent out a replacement the very next day. In a few days I received the replacement chainsaw and I was very impressed with the performance of the chainsaw. I'm cutting small to medium sized trees. The largest diameter that I am having to cut is about 8 to 9 inches. This chainsaw cuts through everything cleanly and it never sticks - the motor feels very strong and the chain is sharp. The pole feels well constructed and durable. The chainsaw attaches to it very securely and using it at the pole's full extension works without a hitch. It must be noted, using the chainsaw at full extension does require a strong upper body because it gets quite heavy; and it also needs a bit of leverage from below, else the chainsaw might bounce around during the initial cuts. I would rate it a 5 star product, if not for the unfortunate defective one I received at first. But also I think Remington should incorporate a chain cover with the product (for when chainsaw is not in use). Other than that, it's a fabulous pole saw, performs well, and is offered at a great price. Great value / solid product.

LOVE THIS THING!
First of all I have never used a chainsaw before, let alone a pole saw; however, on the west side of our house we have a bunch of overgrown brush and trees that really needed to be cleared out. I didn't really want a gas powered saw due to safety and maintenance reasons and after researching and reading reviews I determined this would be enough saw for me. The saw was very easy to assemble and it did an excellent job an any branches it touched. As others have stated it can get tricky if you have the pole completely extended due to the weight of the chainsaw motor on the end, but after some practice you get used to it. I love the fact you can easily detach the saw from the pole and use it as a regular chainsaw, to me that is one of the best features of this product. As for the cons: as others have mentioned the oiler is a little inadequate. I don't know how much I should oil or if I'm oiling too much. I would think they would have a better application for delivering the oil. Overall, for the price and ease of use I would highly recommend this pole saw to most people that live in urban areas and are trying to clear out smaller areas. I think it could work in rural areas, but it may not provide enough power for heavy duty users.

Remington RM1015P Branch Wizard Plus Electric Pole Saw
I bought this Remington pole saw a few years ago and it has worked very well for pruning trees around the house. I generally find it quite easy to use, although with the pole fully extended it is fairly top heavy and you sometimes need to use a lot of upper body strength to work with it, but overall not that tough. This really is a homeowner grade tool with a lot of plastic parts, but I think as long as you keep that in mind, it should be up to the task at hand. The saw comes with a low kickback chain that has cut well in branches up to several inches in diameter. Resharpening the small chain only takes a few minutes, but replacement chains are also readily available from Oregon and relatively inexpensive. The chain oiler is a manual type that requires you to pump the bulb on the oil reservoir cap in between cuts to keep the bar and chain lubed.I noticed that the 10" bar doesn't have a guide sprocket at the tip like most bars normally do, which would probably help reduce wear and increase the life of the bar. The saw is detachable from the extension pole and can be used like regular chain saw, which I think is a handy feature even though I don't often use it that way. Overall I've been pretty happy with this pole saw. It has worked well and has done everything I have needed it to do.

Customer Service is a JOKE
I ordered the Remington RM1025SPS from walmart.com. I used it about an hour trimming limbs and it threw the chain. I was going to put the chain back on and the 2 top screws on the side cover came out but the 2 bottom screws were messed up and phillips screwdriver would no work. Ordered another from Amazon and got it yesterday. Went to clean out an 3 screws worked and the 4th was messed up. Called customer service they transferred me to Tech Support. I explained to agent Rob M. He wanted me to take to service location, but they always want you to leave the unit, I have been there before. I need this and ask if he might overnight me a saw only (check screws first). He raised his voice and said, "No way, not with a service center within a couple of miles. Ask for supervisor and he said no! Then I insisted and he put me on hold, came back and said his supervisor was out but would transfer me to another one. Left message, heard nothing. Real smart Rob M., are you to stupid to know that I can simply return and reorder, over and over. This does tie up my Visa card and take time. Obviously Rob nor Remington gives a damn about this! Seems this could have and should have been a simple fix. I suggest you look at some of the other saws, just make sure they are not tied to Remington!! Pretty bad when their PRODUCT and CUSTOMER SERVICE are sorry as HELL !!

Great tool with little issues
I purchased the pole saw to trim the 4"-6" branches overhanging the roof - about 16 - 20 feet above the ground. I already had 2 manual pole saws and 16" chain saw, but needed an electric pole saw to handle this task. Remington electric pole saw exceeded my expectations cutting through the 6" branches without visible effort! I had to use the ladder to reach the branches and was able to operate fully extended pole saw without compromising balance and stability - saw is very light and well balanced to safely operate from the ladder. Using saw detached from the pole was also very impressive - it performed better than my older 4HP 16" electric saw, which has much wider chain and also was not as sharp as a brand new Remington saw. With all this being said, I did experience couple of issues while using this saw. Aluminum telescoping portion of the pole tends to bend when you cutting with fully extended pole. It becomes almost an impossible task to expand or contract the telescoping portion of the pole after it becomes even slightly deformed. I needed to partially disassemble telescoping mechanism and realign aluminum extension to make it operational again. The plastic bracket for fastening saw to the pole also deforms after the first use and detaching saw from the pole becomes a real challenge with the high risk of cracking the plastic bracket. I managed to work around this problem, but it may become an issue for someone planning to attach and detach saw from the pole frequently. The manual oilier is a bit of nuisance because the lighter oil flows by itself and heavier lubricants require frequent priming to keep chain lubricated. Manual fails to specify viscosity of the suitable lubricant. With the exception of those issues it's a great tool for trimming branches up above.

Could have been a 5 star product...
I bought this saw for home use to cut limbs from several trees in my yard prior to felling the trees. This electric saw cuts well so far. I chose it over a battery operated electric chain saw due to the fact that many of the reviews I read complained about the battery discharging too quickly and the long charging times to get it back to operating capacity. This saw is a really helpful tool if you have overhead branches to trim that would normally be out of reach if a regular chain saw was used. I had no trouble using it on branches that were 8-12 feet overhead (from the ground). This saw could have been a 5 if the manufacturer had decided to make it more durable. Not more than 5 minutes into using it and I noticed that the oil reservoir cap had cracked and was loose. Must have happened when I filled the reservoir and screwed that cap back on too tightly. On top of that, you should plan on having the oil reservoir tank leak oil considerably when you store it away. From other information I've read, I believe this leaking may be due to design considerations, in that the oil used is not the thick bar and chain oil, but is engine oil (30W). It also appears that the saw was designed to make use of an oil pump as well as gravity feed to keep the chain and bar lubricated. My advice would be to drain the oil reservoir each time you put it away in storage. Overall this saw worked well coming out of the box (other than the cracked oil reservoir cover). However, after a couple of hours of use, it appears not to be cutting as smoothly as it did initially, even though I have taken care to sharpen the chain, adjust chain tension and to make certain that the chain and bar were kept lubricated during operation. I'd hate to think that this tool is an example of planned obsolescence, but based on the quality and the durability of the materials used, I'm afraid I might find this to be the case. Just like any chain saw
I wasn't sure what to expect but this saw is a tough little unit. It works incredibly well and does what it claims. I have had no problem with the oil leak that some people claim is an issue. My guess is that some people over oil the chain. Just like any chain saw, you need to monitor the chain tension to keep it from jumping but with proper maintenance this saw is a perfect tool for everyday pruning needs. I used it to cut down 10-12" diameter trunks with no problems.

New improved version Remington
Had a earlier version of the Remington pole saw which served me well until.... but the pole was round which allowed the saw to turn in the coupling when making a cut. The tightening nut on the pole cracked so couldn't tighten it properly. Then the chain blade split. Saw this new improved version on sale and noted improvements.... as the pole is angle shaped so saw won't turn over and the tightening coupler is now a snap bracket rather than threaded nut. On sale so the price was right and now I also have a spare chainsaw electric motor if I ever need it.

I have got the saw today and I am happy with it
I have got the saw today and I am happy with it. I did not have to install the blade (unlikely Sun Joe's saw) and it is very easy to use. Hopefully it will serve me for a long time. Thank you!
