Good price per TB
Good price per TB, very good installation formatting options, manual is easyread, no frills, small footprint, Buffalo online support is respectable.4star why? I had an issue with HD spin noise in a silent enviro when the unit is set in standard upright position , nothing mechanically wrong with the HD's , I think it has more to do with the type of case and dampening design. So, I experimented with laying the unit flat on it's side , issue resolved!I spoke to Buffalo tech support about my findings and they indicated that it was okay to use in this manner without any ill-effect to the HD's.I would recommend to others , strongly compare to owned LaCie products.

Horrible software / product support
This device is not compatible with Mac OSX. Their software is written in 32 bit so if you have the latest won't even run. Worse there is no web interface or way to make it work without their crappy software.Why are they in business?

The email alert feature does not work
The Drivestation Duo 4TB is nicely built. The basic RAID 1 software is OK. However, one of the key feature for me did not work: the email alert when something is wrong with the drive, for ex., if one drive is bad. The email-alert uses SMTP with no authentication, which may have worked 10 years ago, but is outdated today, no mail server will accept SMTP without password these days. I called the support center, there is nothing they can do about it, it seems the company no longer spend any time on the software.

USB 3, not ethernet connected
I purchased this, thinking it connected via ethernet, but discovered it used USB 3 connection. I decided to keep it anyway, as I discovered that web scammers/thiefs from all over the world try to break into internet connected NAS with incredible frequency.

MAC owners beware.
Poor installation instructions. Software interface very marginal. This thing wanted to re-format my main hard drive for compatability! Tech support could not get it going.

very quiet, very fast. very happy with product. I followed simple instructions and set it up as I wanted. some of the reviews seem like setup issues because they didn't read the instructions.

Muy buena opción
Un muy buen producto, el tamaño compacto lo hace fácil de acomodar en cualquier espacio, bajo consumo energético que le permite trabajar 24/7 ademas de ofrecer características muy buenas como el HOT SWAP que permite cambiar un HDD sin necesidad de apagar el equipo. en general una buena opción al mismo nivel de productos de Western Digital o Seagate.
