Review: Finally, a good, simple timer? - Why is it so hard to find a good timer? I have tried several, and they keep falling short. Some have too many features, making them complicated to use. Some have strange ways of inputting the time, and most have anemic beepers and weak magnets. Many won't time over an hour. I just got a 2-pack of his one for $17 with coupon. It has super simple number buttons to just type in the time. It beeps loud enough to hear a few rooms away, without screeching at you when nearby. Easy enough to use except in direct sunlight.... not really an issue. This one also had marginal magnets. I may try trimming the plastic lip from around them so they contact the surface instead of being held off a bit. But it has a stand so you can place it upright on a table, and a hanger clip if you want to hang it on a nail. You can set it for 99 hours, way more than enough. If this thing holds up in the long run, and the beeper doesn't fade when the battery gets low, it is a winner! I'll update if it disappoints me.

**Q: Can you just have it flash, no sound?**
A: Yes, there's a switch on the side for sound or flash

**Q: For how many minutes will the alarm continue beeping, in each use?**
A: It rings for 1 minute before it shuts off automatically, and the indicator light will flash simultaneously. 
It starts out with a slower beep and gradually speeds the beeping sound so it sounds urgent.
Press any key to stop the alarm. Then it will show the last time setting. 
There's a switch on the side for sound or flash. So you can choose sound alarm with the indicator light, or only the indicator light flashes.

**Q: Is there an audible confirmation of  button pushes? (Please don't tell me it's not necessary.)**
A: Yes, it makes a fairly loud beep at every button push.
The alarm is fairly loud also, so it can be heard throughout most of the house.

**Q: Can you manually enter an amount of time then count up from there?  for example, start at 15minutes and count up (not down).**
A: No, you can only count up from 0.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good but not great

Three things I want in a timer: 1. Easy to use (my old one could only be set in one minute increments - no 30 second timing!) 2. Handy (locating it anywhere you want for both storage and use) 3. Loud enough to hear from adjacent rooms This timer comes close to meeting all three. You can set it with precision, easily (entering hours, minutes, and seconds). It has a nice base which flips out for countertop placement. It's plenty loud, and has an escalating frequency alarm to alert you. Why not five stars? Well, it has two magnets on the back so it will stick to the refrigerator -- or so it should. Problem is, they've recessed the magnets into the back of the timer. That prevents the magnets from scratching the fridge, but since they are not very strong magnets, the weight of the timer causes it to slide down the side of the fridge. There's no way to stick the timer to a vertical metal surface, since the weak magnets are not up to the task . . . Too bad -- this could be an outstanding timer for normal, everyday use!
