Who is this book for? For someone with a PASSIONATE interest in learning about the immune system. It is complex, filled with detailed biochemical mechanisms, and take the reader into deep detail of this very complicated system that supports life. Understanding the immune system is like the Russian Maitraya doll, where one doll nests inside the other. Short texts like Textbook of Immunology by Kaur is the first doll, while Abbas text take you several smaller nested dolls inside. This book is for the person with a passionate interest in going deep into their study, not for the light-hearted. It is difficult and takes great patience and an interest in molecular biology to be in your mental backpack. Good luck on this difficult journey when you take on the Abbas text; don't forget that the immune system has evolved over hundreds of millions of years, more time than most students have for their studies. I remember when I got the first edition decades ago. Read it through in a few days to catch up. Immunology was then just becoming a real hot button in cancer therapy. Now it is essential to grasp its many elements and the authors are the best at laying them out. This edition is a superb addition to the long history of predecessors. Overall it is exceptionally well organized, taking each element one at a time. Second the graphics are sine qua non, and I find myself coming back again and again. The coverage is excellent bring the reader up to date. This book is an essential text for anyone dealing with immunology and in today's environment, anyone dealing with medicine. One cannot avoid the immune system, it has become the driver of many therapeutics. This is a mid level text. It could be a challenge for the novice and less than perfect for the expert. Yet it is something I find going back to again and again to see things I may have missed first time through. I would strongly recommend this work frankly for anyone, and it is written so that you can jump in anywhere and learn something. Also the publishers on-line access makes it ever so more valuable;e!

Awesome book for learning about immunology. Studying based upon key words is amazingly effective: the search not only included the key word but also a separate catagory of diagrams that involve the key word. Having the digitial version given when you purchase the book is the way all textbooks should be sold.

This book is clearly written, very well organized with clear graphics which greatly enhance the text. More than you might need to know in some details as a general interested reader. For instance, a very detailed and lengthy discussion about immunoglobulin assembly and diversity was hard for me to move through. I read most of the book on the included electronic copy and sometimes the figures and tables are split between pages. I am a recently retired physician who graduated med school in 1980 and wanted to revisit this exciting and rapidly developing field in an organized way.

First time writing a review for the book. I hope this review will be helpful for those who's looking for a comprehensive immunology textbook whether for the college or for self-study. To be honest, I don't think between different textbooks which available on the market, the main content won't be so much different. I checked context lists for multiple immunology textbooks before I ordered one. They are pretty much the same. So, the main different is the cartoon/figures (or animations) style. I choose this one in particular because when I read the previews, I think the cartoons in the figures are cute and informative (not like the one I used for my colleges, look dull and boring!). You can use these figures as a reference and can take notes easily and make you memorize the content better. Also, the narratives use simple languages and it makes international folks (for those English is second language) to engage the content better. Overall, I like it and highly recommend for buddies who like to study immunology.

I'm not an immunologist and needed to spiff up my immunology knowledge. This was a worthy investment as it explains everything from the simple to the complex, all accompanied by terrific clear and colorful diagrams.

I had ordered this textbook. The order was delivered after 15 days from Shipping date. The seller did not provide tracking information at all. It only showed, it has been shipped and expected date of arrival but tracking details were missing. Anyways, I confirm that it is not a fraud after all. I received my item in excellent condition with a bit delay in delivery. And, it also had an intact scratch card to login for digital version. delivery time was disappointing but very happy with the product.

Definately not for beginners, if you're a beginner in immunology go for kuby's immunology nd if you're looking fore p.hd then go for janeways immunobiology this one is made more precisely for medical students

Arrived in great condition. Packed full of detail on Immunobiology with graphs, tables, diagrams and images. A tad heavy but contains a lot of useful information on Immunology - pathways, molecules, reactions and cell types. Would recommend to any immunologist. Also has convenient table at the back summarising CD numbers and Cytokines including where produced, their targets and effects. It was recommended by University as well.
